Harm isn't always physical. Swipe through.

A harmful relationship is a pattern of power and control. It can be with a spouse, a parent, or someone else close. It often shows up long before anyone sees a bruise.

It can look like a smaller and smaller world. It can look like always being watched. It can feel like walking on eggshells.

One sign alone proves nothing. The pattern and the fear are what matter. If this sounds familiar, you are not overreacting, and you don't have to figure it out alone.

ATTN: CHURCH LEADERS
Most churches meet abuse one crisis at a time. We built a program that helps your leaders build a lasting, church-wide response, woven into how you care, so it doesn't depend on a single staff member being in the room. Take a look for a free download..

Developed by Executive Director Tawni Rochelle alongside Founder Judi Noble. Equip your church with a response that outlasts any one person.

Okay, I promised myself I'd post a real photo of me at some point, so here goes.

Hi! I'm Tawni.

You met Judi a couple of posts ago. She's the brave, wonderful woman who started Eagle's Wings back in 1996. She handed me the keys earlier this year, and I'm still pinching myself. (Don't worry, she hasn't gone anywhere. She's on our board and still advises me.)

Here's what I love about this work: someone finally works up the courage to say "things aren't okay at home," and the person they tell actually knows what to do. That's the whole dream. That's why we train churches, and that's why we pick up the phone.

A few fun facts about me:
I'm a full-time single mom to three amazing kids in Huntington Beach, CA.
My happy place is a nature walk, a Pilates class, or a good cup of coffee. Bonus points if it's a bike ride with my kids.
I used to be a swimwear designer. Yes, really.
I homeschooled my kids for eight years.
For years I ran a business teaching children life skills like sewing and gardening.
And I will absolutely come hang out with your church staff and talk about this stuff.

Stick around. I'll be sharing more of my story soon, including how it led me to Eagle's Wings and why this work is so close to my heart.

Now your turn. Drop a hello in the comments and tell me where you're following from.

Hope. Healing. Restoration.

A handoff, not a goodbye...
Support calls, groups, and church trainings all continue.
Walk with us: pray for Tawni by name, follow along for what comes next, and if you're able, keep giving.
Hope. Healing. Restoration.

We're not new here.
Eagle's Wings began in 1996, when our founder, Judi Noble, said yes to God and opened a door for women who were hurting. Judi lived through abuse herself. In her words: "I am not a polished woman. I am a rescued one."
In 2001, 35 women came to our first Love Does No Harm seminar. Today those groups meet every week across three Southern California counties, Judi's workbook is studied in church small groups, and we have trained leaders as far away as Africa. God did this, through people who prayed, gave, and stayed.
We help in two ways. We walk with survivors of harmful relationships through support calls, Love Does No Harm groups, and a network of trusted counselors, pastors, and attorneys. And we equip churches to recognize harm and respond with care, so no one has to suffer in silence.
Now we're in a new season. Tawni Rochelle became our Executive Director on March 1, 2026. Judi stays on our board as Tawni's advisor.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911. National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788. Call or text 988 if you are in crisis.

I love Karla Downing, and all that she has to share. This is important for all to read.

Christian codependency is based on the belief that God approves of and prefers codependent behaviors. Here are the main misbeliefs that drive Christian codependency:

1. God wants you to give without limits.
2. God wants you to always put others before yourself.
3. God wants you to deny yourself in your relationships.
4. God wants you to ignore your needs.
5. God wants you to work to win his favor.
6. God wants you to take responsibility for other people.

Here are the truths:

1. God wants you to give out of choice not compulsion.
2. God wants you to care for yourself and others.
3. God wants you to be yourself in the relationship.
4. God wants (and expects) you to care for yourself.
5. God wants you to accept his free gift of salvation and favor.
6. God wants you to take responsibility for yourself and allow others to be responsible for themselves.
