Three kids. One phone call. One family that needed help right now.

Because of monthly donors in Southern California, Warrior for Children was already ready. No scrambling. No waiting. We said yes immediately.

New clothes. Shoes that fit. Pajamas, socks, and essentials that belonged completely to them. Items chosen with intention and given with dignity, because that is what every child deserves on one of the hardest nights of their life.

A stuffed animal. A blanket. A backpack.

To most people, these are just things. To a child navigating trauma, they are the beginning of something new.

At Warrior for Children, we only provide brand new items. Not because we cannot accept used ones, but because every child we serve deserves to hold something that has never belonged to anyone else. Something chosen specifically for them.

For children who have already faced more than any child should, that distinction is not small. It is the difference between feeling like an afterthought and feeling like they matter.

Because they do.

We could do this differently. It would be easier. But every resource bag, birthday gift, and welcome basket we provide is brand new, fully customized, and given with intentionality, dignity, and purpose. That is what sets Warrior for Children apart.

Meet Amanda Brady, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Warrior for Children.

Eight years ago, a conversation with her longtime friend Jenn was all it took. Today she helps lead one of Southern California’s most hands-on trauma-informed children’s nonprofits, serving kids across San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties.

These children have taught Amanda that resilience is unmatched. They love unconditionally, see the world’s pure potential, and find joy in the smallest moments.
One of her most defining moments came watching her own daughter teach a brother and sister to swim, two children whose trauma had happened in a water setting. The trust they built by the final lesson fueled a passion that still drives her today.

Her hope for every child Warrior serves? That they grow into compassionate, kind adults who make this world a little better than they found it.

This is what showing up for kids looks like, year-round, close to home. Every child navigating trauma in Southern California deserves more than awareness. They deserve action.

At Warrior for Children in Upland, we show up for children and families across San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties through three pillars built around what they actually need.

❤️ Tangible Resources: a new pair of shoes, hygiene items, or a personalized birthday gift waiting for a child who may not have had one otherwise

🎓 Education: our founder Jenn is a nurse with nine years of specialized experience in child trauma, developmental disability, and prenatal substance exposure, with a deep focus on children ages 0 to 5 in the foster and adoption community. She currently works with the San Bernardino County SART/EIIS program and brings that frontline expertise directly into the workshops, trainings, and resources Warrior for Children provides across Southern California

Every month, this community shows up in a big way for children navigating trauma across San Bernardino, Riverside, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties. April was no different.

Here is what showing up looked like last month:

🎂 160 birthday gifts filled so every child could have a moment that felt just for them

🙌 162volunteer hours poured into this mission by people who chose to show up

It’s that time… Give the Joy is here! 💛

This year, our focus is EXPANSION. Many of you know we’ve grown in square footage but we’re also growing in programs in a powerful way.

In 2026, Warrior for Children will launch the Warrior for Children Counseling & Development Center.

We know that a pivotal part of healing for children navigating trauma is having a safe space that focuses not only on their mental health, but for our youngest warriors, their developmental health as well.

Our goal is to be more than a provider of tangible resources, education, and mentorship. We are creating a place where children can receive the counseling and developmental services they deserve all under one roof.

This year, your Give the Joy donations will go directly towards supporting this expansion. Our generous donor has agreed to match up to $40,000 to help us meet our goal.

We love the opportunity to spoil our warriors. Sometimes it is an event and sometimes it’s an opportunity to bond with their caregivers. For Valentines and Easter we wanted to give our Warriors a craft and goodie bag to help them connect with the families that care for them. Thank for supporting Warrior so we can support one kid and one family at a time. Be the Light!!!
