CREATE had the opportunity to visit with the 2026 Mississippi National Civics Bee winner, Skylar Wilson from Ingomar Attendance Center! Wish her the best of luck as she competes in nationals in this fall in Washington, D.C.!

CREATE Foundation and Community Development Foundation were proud to host with presenting sponsor Kinder Morgan the National Civics Bee Mississippi State Finals at University of Mississippi - Tupelo 👏🐝🇺🇸

Students across the state submitted essays in issues in their communities, which were reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges. Top students were selected to complete in Mississippi’s statewide competition: an in-person, live event featuring two rounds of civics quiz questions followed by a Q&A in which students discussed their proposals for improving their communities.

Congratulations to Skylar Wilson from Ingomar Attendance Center who took first place, followed by Elias Miguel Jimenez from Corinth Middle School who took second place, and Elizabeth Hall from Ingomar Attendance Center who took third place!

“All of the participants exemplify our nation’s founding principles and civic virtues. This is a meaningful event that will guide the participants to be strong leaders in their community for years to come,” said Dylan Arnette, Public Affairs Specialist with Kinder Morgan and a judge at this year’s Bee.

Donor Advised Fund Feature: A Family Approach to Giving 💛

Matt and Amy Bogue established a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) with CREATE Foundation as a way to simplify and strengthen their family’s approach to giving. “The DAF affords us the immediate tax benefits of our charitable contributions while also allowing us to give strategically based on our own timeline,” said Matt.

The fund has also created a meaningful opportunity to involve their children, encouraging them to take an active role in charitable decisions and develop a lifelong commitment to giving. “The DAF has also allowed us to teach our children about charitable giving by trusting them with the responsibility of allocating funds to some of the charities they are most passionate about,” said Matt.
