As I watch Esther slow down over the past couple months, I wonder if her very attentive daughter, Loretta ,realizes her mom is in her final stages of life.
Do you think animals are aware of such things?
Maybe they just live in the moment and appreciate the time they have with their loved ones?

The most beautiful mornings are Vermont mornings

Evening chores take close to two hours. We can’t seem to get inside before 10 pm.
Saturday nights mean we can reward ourselves after a long day of repairs, projects and inn keeping.
Once chores are done, we sit on the ledge in the barn and let ourselves be surrounded by sheep who are vying for our attention.
It’s important that we have this time to enjoy them. It makes all the hard stuff worthwhile.

Nine years ago this week, we received our non profit status from the IRS and the State of Vermont.
The photo is from August 2017, when we were just a tiny rescue with adorable tiny red barns that we built ourselves.
So much has happened, changed and been a learning experience in these years since that August.
