Official Paso Fino Show Costume:
☆ Longsleeved jacket of approximate hip-length which does not touch the saddle
☆Full-length riding pants that cover the boots
☆ Must be conservative in color and may include contrasting trim and/or embroidery
☆Slightly reflective or non-metallic buttons: pearl, glass or burnished metal are allowed as long as they do not predominate the attire.
☆Sequins, glitter or other highly reflective, bright and shiny adornment is not allowed on any part of the Official Paso Fino show costume.
☆Conservative colors: (including trim) black, white, off white, dark shades of grey, blue, green, red, brown and purple. Bright shades of any color (hot pink, lime green, fuchsia, fluorescent orange, etc.) are not conservative. Reflective stitching and fabric with reflective glitter threads are not conservative.
Pleasure Classes:
☆Sequins, and rhinestones (no glitter, no mirrors) may be used as an accent or buttons on a jacket, vest, or hat band, but must not predominate.
☆Reflective adornment is not permitted on shirts or blouses, except functional buttons at the cuffs and the front of the garment.
Bits:
Standard curb bit
☆ Shank maximum length of 8 1/2”.
☆ Curb strap or chain required, at least ½ inch in width.
☆Mouthpiece - metal bar 5/16” to 3/4” in diameter ☆Bars must be smooth or latex wrapped.
☆ Rollers must turn.
☆ Port - 3 1/2” maximum ☆Straight bar bits must be rounded on edges or wrapped. The diameter or thickness of the bar is not to exceed ¾.” The width (flat surface) of the bar is not to exceed 1.”
☆Slip or gag bits are prohibited.
Snaffle bit
☆ Center jointed single rounded, unwrapped smooth metal mouthpiece
☆ 5/16” to 3/4” diameter ☆Rings may be from 2” to 4” outside diameter without cheeks or inside attachments.
☆Snaffle bits do not require a curb chain. If a curb strap is used it must be attached below the reins.
☆Curb chains and leather chin straps must be flat, at least 1/2” in width, and lie flat along the “chin groove” (the part of the jaw just behind the bulge of the chin) of the horse.
