This week, our Squash Hunger team and volunteers partnered with Schoharie Valley Farms and Barber's Farm to glean more than 2,700 pounds of local squash, pumpkins, eggplant and peppers!

Gleaning, or harvesting extra produce, helps reduce food waste and gets fresh, local produce to food pantries, shelters, and community organizations across the Capital Region.

A new group of Troy High School students is joining the Produce Project!

Over the next 7 weeks, students will get hands-on horticulture experience in a garden of their own, connect with their community, learn about nutrition and life skills, and build entrepreneurship and leadership skills as they prepare for their next chapters.

A special shoutout to the local business Sawyer's Screen Printing & Embroidery for printing this yearโ€™s Produce Project shirts for our students!

As the leaves change colors, so does the group of students in our Produce Project!

This season, a new group of Troy High School students will learn by growing, harvesting, and cooking fresh food while building job readiness and life skills. Along the way, students explore farming, nutrition, cooking, business, and community engagement while gaining confidence and skills they can carry into their next steps.

๐ŸŒŸ What an unforgettable Autumn Evening! ๐ŸŒŸ

Our 20th Autumn Evening was a special celebration of 50 years of Capital Roots, bringing together our community around local food, farms, chefs and the people who make our work possible.

This year also marked 30 years of service from Amy Klein. We are grateful for her dedication to growing healthy food, green spaces, and stronger communities throughout the Capital Region.

Thank you to our guests, sponsors, chefs, farms, beverage partners, staff and volunteers for making the evening so special. And thank you to Liz Lajeunesse for capturing these beautiful moments!
