Alzheimers Research Foundation We envision a world without Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia and currently affects over 5 million Americans.

Our mission is to make that future possible by advancing innovative research and education focused on prevention, early intervention, and functional medicine. Discovered over 100 years ago by Doctor Alois Alzheimer, it is a progressive neurological disease that causes memory loss, confusion, and a decline in functionality. While the majority of people with Alzheimer’s are age 65 and older, up to 5 percent of people with Alzheimer’s are in their 40’s and 50’s. Alzheimer’s can be a devastating disease both for the people who suffer from it, and for friends and family members who have to deal with the fact that their loved one no longer remembers them. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for Alzheimer’s…but thanks to organizations like Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, we’re getting closer.

Brain health is about so much more than memory.
Your brain plays a role in how you learn, manage stress and anxiety, regulate emotions, experience rewards, and respond to the world around you.

Taking care of your brain means supporting all the functions that help you think, feel, adapt, and navigate everyday life.

For Douglas Klinowski, founder of the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, the search for a cure is deeply personal.

After watching Alzheimer’s take his father, Douglas turned heartbreak into a reason to fight harder. That experience helped inspire the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, created to give brilliant scientists the resources and opportunities they need to pursue answers.

There may not be one simple solution, but every discovery brings us closer to understanding, preventing, and treating this disease.

Douglas believes a future without Alzheimer’s is possible. Research is how we get there.

Today is DAF Day!

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account that allows you to make tax-deductible contributions, invest those funds for potential growth, and recommend grants to nonprofit organizations over time.

If you have a DAF, you can use it to help fuel the future of Alzheimer’s research. Your gift to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation helps support NeuroScholars, fund innovative discoveries, and move us closer to better treatments, prevention strategies, and ultimately, a cure.

Swipe to learn how DAF giving works and how you can make an impact today.

Visit alzheimersresearchfoundation.com/daf to learn how to give through your DAF.

If your sponsoring organization isn’t available through the direct giving tool, you can still recommend a grant by contacting your DAF administrator or logging into your DAF account directly.

How does Alzheimer’s damage spread through the brain? Researchers are looking closely at tau.

As tau becomes damaged, it can move from one brain cell to another, contributing to the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Understanding what happens while tau travels between cells could reveal new opportunities for researchers to target it and potentially interrupt that process.

Every discovery brings us closer to understanding Alzheimer’s and finding better ways to fight it.

Help fuel the research moving us forward.

Their life is so much bigger than an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

A tribute page is a meaningful way to honor someone you love by sharing the photos, memories, videos, and moments that made them who they were.

Invite family and friends to add their own stories or make a donation in their honor, helping preserve their legacy while supporting research toward a future without Alzheimer’s.

Honor their life. Share their story. Help move Alzheimer’s research forward.

Alzheimer’s research isn’t only about finding a “magic pill.” It’s also about understanding the everyday choices that may help support brain health.

Research continues to explore how factors like diet, exercise, and overall health can play a role in maintaining cognitive health and potentially reducing risk.

The more we learn, the more we can turn research into practical steps that may make a difference.

Your brain doesn’t store every memory the same way.

Short-term memory helps us hold onto recent moments, like what we ate earlier or what we did yesterday. Long-term memory allows certain experiences and information to be stored and recalled years later.

Understanding how different types of memory work is an important part of understanding the brain and what changes when diseases like Alzheimer’s affect it.

Help us continue supporting research that brings us closer to better prevention, treatment, and ultimately, a cure.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t only affect the person diagnosed. Its impact is felt by the spouses, children, friends and family members who step into the role of caregiver, often taking on responsibilities no one can fully see.

From managing medications and daily routines to simply being there through the difficult moments, caregiving is an act of love that can carry an incredible emotional weight.

To every family navigating Alzheimer’s: we see you, and we remain committed to advancing the research that can create a different future.

Help us continue funding the researchers working toward better prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure.

Research has opened the door to promising new possibilities in Alzheimer’s disease, but moving those discoveries forward takes significant funding.

From regulatory applications to large-scale clinical trials, the cost of turning early findings into potential treatments can reach millions of dollars. That’s why supporting research matters. Every study funded brings us closer to better answers, new approaches, and meaningful progress.

Your support can help move Alzheimer’s research forward. Donate today and be part of the progress.
