Today marks the start of National Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month. The meaning behind this month is very near and dear to our hearts at New Ways, as we see every day the importance of asking for help and changing the narrative 💜

This year, we're commemorating the month with a t-shirt sale. Shirts are $25 and available for pre-order until September 7th. More than anything, we hope these shirts start conversations, break down stigmas, and remind others that healing doesn’t have to happen in silence.

We may not be hosting Let the Light In this year, but we're still passionate about spreading light and awareness, especially in September! 💙

These shirts, originally meant for LTLI 2026, share the importance of healing out loud. Talking about su***de can be uncomfortable, but staying silent doesn't make it go away. We want to keep encouraging our community to have the conversations that matter, check on the people around you, and remind each other that it's okay to ask for help.

You may have noticed we've been quiet about LTLI lately. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, our board has made the hard decision to cancel Let The Light In 2026.

The absence of LTLI does not change the importance of September, which is National Su***de Prevention and Awareness Month. We are still encouraging everyone to continue talking about the hard things, to check on those who are struggling, and to celebrate the stories of su***de survivors.

LTLI is not just an event. It is a movement working towards a brighter future together. Let the Light In is not going away forever, just taking a break for this year.

One of my favorite parts of Let the Light In is seeing people honor the lives of those they've lost to su***de. Last year, I looked over after the race and saw a family sitting on the grass together, sharing a picnic beside the remembrance sign of their loved one. It brought tears to my eyes.

For so long, su***de has been surrounded by silence and shame. Many families have felt like they had to grieve quietly, carrying a loss they weren't sure they were "allowed" to talk about. The truth is, we can't change what we're unwilling to acknowledge. We can't prevent su***de if we're afraid to have conversations about it.

That's why our remembrance signs mean so much. They give families and friends a place to say, "This person mattered. They are loved. They will not be forgotten."

If there's someone you'd like to remember, we'd be honored to display a sign in their honor at Let the Light In 2026. Each sign is $25, which is simply the cost of having the sign made. We don't make anything from sign purchases. They're offered as a way for families and friends to remember and honor their loved ones.

Together, we can remember and together, we can keep bringing these conversations into the light 🤍
