This group supports local animal rescue through compassion, community, and care. Kourtney's Hope for the Animals Mission Statement:

Kourtney's Hope for the Animals is a non-profit, 501(c)3 animal organization. Kourtney's Hope for the Animals was not only formed as a way to save the lives of the many precious, forgotten animals we meet DAI
LY, but also as a way to save a person, if you will. A way for a grieving mother to turn her pain into purpose. Now, to know Miss Lynn is to know that she is NOT one who likes to broadcast that she even exists, and would absolutely cringe at a personal pity party- but this story is one that needs to be told and heard, because it sheds a light on KHFTA, and our purpose, like no other story can. It beckons NOT a pity party, but brings forth a sense of understanding and pride for the tenacity of a very strong, determined woman in the face of the unthinkable. It also keeps someone else alive- her late daughter, Kourtney. Kourtney Dunnam tragically lost her life, at the young age of 23, while partaking in a fun day with friends and family- doing something she loved: getting muddy in big trucks (some of us can definitely relate, right?!) Unfortunately, mother nature had other plans. When a rogue storm rolled through White Springs, like they often do in Florida- this very normal day turned very tragic. A lightning bolt came out of nowhere, hitting a nearby tree, traveling mere feet- killing Kourtney instantly and injuring 4 of her friends, who were all huddled together under a camper simply riding out the "passing storm." No parent is prepared for the death of a child- and in her gut wrenching, earth shattering "new" way of living- Lynn managed to redirect that searing, sometimes overtaking pain in her heart, and turned her tragedy into a strategy! Oddly enough- Lynn's daughter Kourtney was AFRAID of dogs before she took a volunteer position at a local shelter. Her love for them grew far bigger than her fears, and *her* mission became to "save them all." Sadly- she never got the chance to save them all- but did manage to save five, that she loved dearly! So Lynn took this knowledge, and this cause that she, too, felt strongly about, and turned it into something AMAZING- something her daughter would be proud of! Something to keep her daughter's name alive in the community and beyond, while standing up and speaking LOUDLY for the ever growing population of those who can't! With every animal saved, Lynn sees Kourtney- and we... well, we see Miss Lynn- beaming, elated, and at peace. So, while saving animals is our number ONE mission, and we're all FIERCE advocates and activists for animals- we also see a family having been ripped apart, slowly being put back together (as best it can,) because of the greater need of God's helpless, four legged creatures! Please, join us in our mission to save the animals, and keep Kourtney alive!
