Open to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, as well as medical residents and fellows, the poster session provides students and early-career professionals with the opportunity to:

🌱Showcase research, quality improvement projects, or community initiatives related to food systems, agriculture, food access or climate and public health, environmental health, healthcare sustainability, or environmental justice.

🌱Share ideas with clinicians, policymakers, and community leaders.

🌱Receive feedback and foster collaboration.

While most attention is on the role that the federal or state governments play in climate policy, implementation of the infrastructure needed for a clean energy transition is entirely done at the local level. For the last decade Sarah Mills and her team at the UM Center for EmPowering Communities has helped Michigan local governments across the urban-rural spectrum navigate the clean energy transition.

In this talk, she'll reflect on that work, sharing practical lessons about how health professionals might constructively advocate at the local level for climate action: whether for the equitable build-out of wind or solar farms, or building more climate-conscious housing in walkable neighborhoods.
