7 Intake Requests Received So Far This Week

We will be posting an orange heart every time we get an intake request this week. Going to do this for a bit longer!

Week-to-date totals:

🧡 Intake requests: 7
🏡 Adoption applications: 1

We’re sharing these numbers because one of the most common things rescues hear and see is: “I reached out to ___ and they won’t help.”

Every dog needs a *foster home*, funding, veterinary care, and ultimately an adopter. When those resources are full, we cannot responsibly take more dogs in. Adoptions aren’t happening. Dogs aren’t moving. So we aren’t taking in more.

We’ll continue posting an orange heart for every intake request we receive this week to help illustrate the reality private rescues (& all shelters!!) face every day.

If someone had shown you the first clip a year ago, you probably wouldn’t believe the last one was the same dog.

Ace was hit by a car and could barely walk. Completely broken front leg, broken pelvis, and the ball of his femur broken. Today he’s sprinting, jumping, and living life like nothing can stop him.

For anyone who needs a reminder not to give up, this is it. 🧡

Rusty is looking for a home with experience owning power breeds. In the right hands, Rusty is the kind of dog that makes you wonder how you ever lived without him.
Honestly: ✅ Green Flag ✅

3 years old / 85 lbs / Neutered
25.4% Presa de Canario, 21.1% APBT, 15% Mastiff, 12.2% Doberman 11% Supermutt 9.5% Am. Staff 5.8% Boerboel

Rusty joined us from a public shelter back in January, and he’s been quietly proving ever since that he’s what we like to call a total green flag dog.

He’s dog-friendly across the board: big, small, male, female, but because of his breed mix and the natural tendency toward same s*x aggression, we’re looking for a female only dog home for long-term success. He’s also incredibly cat social, which is rare and pretty special for a dog of his size and makeup.

Out in the world, Rusty is easy. No reactivity, no nonsense. You can walk him with your pinky finger, and he’s content to just exist alongside you. Low energy, level-headed, and not looking to make a scene.

At home, he’s a little more honest about who he is. Rusty is naturally aloof with strangers, especially men, and he will let you know when someone new is around with a big, intimidating bark. It’s something his future home needs to be comfortable managing safely. He’s not a fan of the chaos that can come with young kids, so we’re recommending a home with children 10+ who understand boundaries and respect his space.

He’s not suited for a wire crate (he will break out), but does well in a steel crate or even left out; he’s not destructive. Once given space and structure, he settles quickly.

Rusty is the kind of dog that thrives with people who “get it.” If you have experience with guardian-type or power breeds and want a steady, loyal, low-key companion, he’s already everything you’re looking for.

🧬 THE RESULTS ARE IN! 🧬

After almost a year in foster care, we finally have answers about what makes Indie… well, Indie. 😆

Her DNA results came back as:

🐺 32.1% Siberian Husky
🧡 21.4% American Bully
🐾 13.2% Supermutt
🦁 12.1% Chow Chow
🥔 8.8% Bulldog
💪 7.4% American Pit Bull Terrier
🎩 5% Boston Terrier

The Husky explains SO much. If you’ve ever met Indie, you know she’s equal parts athlete, comedian, and professional chaos coordinator. She’s goofy, expressive, energetic, and somehow always finding new ways to make us laugh.

As for our DNA contest… nobody guessed all of her top three breeds! But we do have two winners:

🎉 Kayla Shealey was the ONLY person to guess Husky, Indie’s #1 breed.
🎉 Samantha Oomen was the ONLY person to guess American Bully, her #2 breed.

We’ll be reaching out to both of you to get your Jasper’s Legacy shirts!

Did Indie’s results surprise you? What breed surprised you the most? 👇🧡
