From Colonial trails to championship rails!

Our Colonial Riders 4-H Club is saddled up and representing James City County at the Virginia 4-H State Horse & Pony Championship!

With Williamsburg roots and plenty of 4-H pride, we’re celebrating America’s 250th the best way we know how… with horses and hard work!

Good luck to all of our riders (and their four-legged teammates!) competing this weekend!

4-H Camp always ends just a little too soon.

Somewhere between the first day and the last, camp becomes more than a place you go for a week. You grow up here. You find your people here. And eventually, you realize you’ve been making the memories you’ll spend years missing.

So, before summer slips away, we asked our seniors one last question: Why camp? 🍀

Today we mourn the loss of an American icon, a beloved philanthropist and a proud 4-H alumna, Dolly Parton. Her extraordinary life was defined not only by her incredible talent, but by her unwavering generosity, compassion and commitment to helping others.

For generations of young people, Dolly embodied what it means to use your gifts in service of others. From her roots in 4-H to her lifelong investment in literacy, education and community, she showed us that true leadership is grounded in humility, kindness, and purpose. As Dolly once said, "storms make trees take deeper roots." 💚

A proud 4-H alumna, she reminded us that challenges can strengthen us and help us grow. That wisdom will continue to inspire young people and communities for generations to come. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and the millions whose lives she touched. Her legacy of hope, generosity, and service will live on. 🍀

School starts next week, and what better way to kick off the 2026–2027 school year than by giving back!

JCC 4-H was proud to join Real People Educating Others 757 Back to School & Community Give Back event—connecting with families, community leaders, organizations, and neighbors from across communities.

A fun day with a powerful purpose: showing up, giving back, and starting the school year strong!

Diving into greater knowledge with a week of Earth Explorers!

In partnership with James City County Parks & Recreation, our young explorers spent the week discovering the plants, animals, ecosystems, and connections that make our community home and why protecting them matters.

We wrapped up the week with an exciting field trip to the Virginia Beach’s Aquarium & Marine Science Center!

This was a great week of exploring, learning, and inspiring the next generation to protect the world around them!

Your kids say and do the wildest things when you aren’t around. The nightly Facebook posts of pictures only can tell so much of the camp story 😂 Thank goodness we have some of the best teen and adult volunteers in the business to provide a safe and engaging camp experience! 🍀💚
