As we approach Memorial Day Weekend, and the pursuits that will be enjoyed by us all - we should pause on Monday for those who lost their lives in service to our nation. The brave men and women from every branch of our military who gave their lives since its humble beginning 250 years ago are gone, but shall not be forgotten.

Since 1969—the year the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association was founded—thousands of American service members have continued to make the ultimate sacrifice while wearing the uniform. This is a true reminder of the high cost of freedom that still must be paid.

It is because of their unwavering courage and sacrifice that we are able to endure as a nation and enjoy the simple, beautiful pursuits that make life in our country and here in New Hampshire so special. This includes the freedom to head out onto the trails and share the sport of snowmobiling with our families and friends each winter.

On Monday, as we look at the flag, we honor those who are no longer with us but whose legacy lives on in the freedom we so deeply cherish.

Whether you’re honoring your own mom who was the first to bring you into the great outdoors, or celebrating the mother of your kids who keeps the family adventure moving forward - this day is for both of them.

We get to enjoy the freedom and adventure of New Hampshire's trails because of the sacrifices these women made to nurture our passions. From the early mornings getting everyone geared up to ride or providing the support that fuels our sense of adventure - these women are the true engine behind every great trail ride.

Take a moment this Sunday to thank trail-breaking mother’s everywhere.

Snow Traveler Foundation - President/Tom Willand and Treasurer/Nigel Croxon prepare the first round of decals and Certificate of Authenticity to early adopters of these stickers for the NH (D)ecal license plate. Tom's truck looks great with this new way to show your support. Decals are available at the foundation website, and by stopping by the SledNH office in Tilton - or - mail order with a check. This is just one more great way to support our sport.

Great partner meeting just across the border in Maine on NH Corridor 19/Maine ITS 80 to get a first hand look at how bridge inspections are handled in the forest, and to discuss the latest methods to build and maintain bridges that comply with their standards. In attendance were district staff representing many different roles from the White Mountain National Forest, staff from the State of NH Trails Bureau, and the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association. Our friends from Maine Snowmobile Association, and Maine Division of Parks and Lands in Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry could not attend today, but have been engaged in these efforts as well.
