C.A.R.A. We are only able to accept new pets as we have space, 609 E 5th St Tilton, IL Please call 217-655-4353 with any questions. On rare occasion a large dog.

is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, no kill animal rescue dedicated to care for the animals in our facility all their natural life with hopes of finding them forever homes. is a 501(c)3 non-for-profit, No Kill animal shelter and rescue for homeless, injured/neglect. We do require a preapproved application before setting up an appointment to meet cats/kittens. We are open Tuesday through Saturday 1-4pm and other times by appointment. This is a great time to drop off donations and pick up or drop off an application. Please call ahead if making a drive to be sure it isn't a spay/neuter day or that we aren't out of the shelter on an errand. We have lots of kittens up to senior cats so please let us know what you are looking for and we will have a list of possibilities ready for you to meet. Occasionally we have a few puppies or small dogs. We are only set up to keep a few dogs, so check back often. Please note, we are an independent shelter and not an open intake shelter. We keep our pets for as long as they live or until they find homes, which keeps our shelter full. We will only be able to take in additional pets when we have adequate room for more. He loves attention, gets along with other cats, is playful at times, is snuggly, loveable, and will be a great companion and friend. We recommend kittens in pairs as they will play, romp, wrestle, sleep, and eat together, especially if you are gone long hours with work or sleep.

This large, super friendly and loving boy has the biggest and best purr. Meet Big Blue. He loves attention and being petted. He's beautiful, medium hair, neutered, microchipped, 4 years old, and up to date on vaccinations. Big Blue will be an amazing best friend. He does get along with adult cats he's met but he does need a proper introduction and friendly, respectful cat friends. He is in a freeroaming room with Tux and Ivy and doing really well.

Who will be there: We have 2 adorable young dogs looking for a forever home! One year old Quinn and 4-5 month old Sweetheart will be there! We'd love to find a forever home full of love for beautiful Sweetheart. Did you notice the heart on her nose? She is adorable, super sweet, loves everyone, longs for attention, and a shelter kennel by herself is no place for a baby to grow up. Please email [email protected] for an application and let's get Sweetheart a home for the holidays. She is a puppy and will need someone to be ready for puppy life. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Sweetheart will be at the Runnings in Tilton from 10-1 on Saturday November 7th if she isn't adopted before then.

Super sweet Blackberry. He loves to be with you, he's quiet, friendly, gets along with kitten friends, playful, beautiful, and actually looks chocolate in certain light. He's 5 months old, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Blackberry was raised from birth in a foster with lots of kittens and with kids until he was three months old. He's very social. Now his litter mates have all been adopted and he's friends with new roommates from three other litters here at CARA, Red Haven, Nugget, Cheeze and Cheeto. Little Miss Kitty was born here and handled, but was very slow in warming up. Thanks to socializers she is allowing occasional pets and even letting us pick her sometimes. We are so pleased with her progress. We feel with patience and a home, you will win this girl over. She is beautiful, quiet, likes to lounge, playful at times, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is a close sibling to super friendly Doc and loves her two other siblings as well, Beckey and Dillon. She is now 7 months old and we'd love to find her a home.
