The regular Upson Historical Society Meeting has been cancelled for Monday, October 26, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please be sure and mark your calendars for our Veteran's Day Program that will be on Saturday, Nov. 7th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Look forward to seeing you there!

Also, Archaeology Day will be Saturday, November 14th, 2025 from noon to 4:00 p.m.

Sacred Harp Singers at Andrews Chapel Schoolhouse on Oct. 17!

Come listen to the Sacred Harp Singers at Andrews Chapel Schoolhouse on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 to 3:00 with covered dish lunch from noon until 1:00. You will be amazed at the acoustics of the building and how the voices blend so well together.

The Thomaston-Upson Archives is turning 30! Please join us in a celebratory reception, next Friday, from 12:00-2:00PM. Remarks will be given at 12:30. This is a free and open event! We hope to see you there!

The Pettigrew-White-Stamps House Museum will be closed next Tuesday, October 6, 2026 and reopen Thursday, October 8, 2026.

What a great night in history! The Upson Historical Society met at the Senior Center and the speaker was Mike Buckner. He is a lifelong native of Talbot County and was educated in Talbot County public schools. He attended and graduated ABAC and Columbus State University with a BS in Social Science. He served for 20 years as the Chairman of the Historic Talbotton Foundation and is the immediate Past President of the Taylor Cpunty Historical Society. Mike has been involved in many historic preservation projects and has operated his family’s historic Fielder’s Mill for 59 years.

🇺🇸 CELEBRATING 250 YEARS OF AMERICAN HISTORY 🇺🇸In honor of our country’s 250th birthday, the Upson Historical Society proudly presents a true local treasure: The American Quilt. This stunning, one-of-a-kind piece of history was designed and sewn together by Thomaston’s own Lois Gordy in 1976 to mark the nation's Bicentennial. Lois began sewing at an early age, dedicating her life to creating beautiful quilts. The American Quilt showcases her incredible artistry and intricate detail work, featuring every single state outlined alongside its official state bird and flower. Come admire this beautiful masterpiece in person at the Pettigrew-White-Stamps House Museum located at 800 South Church Street in Thomaston. The Museum is open on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 - 4.

The Pettigrew-White-Stamps House Museum will be closed the week of June 22 - June 26, 2026. Thank you for your patronage and the museum will reopen Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Don't forget tonight is the Upson Historical Society meeting at the Senior Center at 7 p.m. Chris Skates will be our speaker. He will be speaking on his book Moonshine over Georgia regarding his grandfather, Revenue Agent Miller with his connections of Murder in Coweta County. He will give his grandfather's perspective on stopping the crime and corruption associated with The Upson Co. Liquor Gang!
Be sure and bring a guest and enjoy stepping back in history!
