Due to inclement weather, the Upson Historical Society meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled.
Our planned speaker, Chris Madrid of the Georgia World War II Heritage Trail, is checking his calendar to identify another possible date to speak on the Trail and its importance to the Thomaston-Upson county area. We look forward to rescheduling this presentation and sharing the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

The Upson Historical Society will have a Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 11th at 11 a.m. on the lawn of the Pettigrew-White-Stamps House located at 800 South Church Street. The speaker will be Colonel (Retired) Robert G. Young. He served our nation for more than 35 years. He began his career as an enlisted infantryman before earning his commission as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Maryland. Over the course of his career, he served in many of the Army's most respected units - including the 82nd Airborne Division, the 75th Ranger Regiment, Special Forces Command, the 2nd and 25th Infantry Divisions, and the U. S. Army Central. His deployments spanned nearly every major American operation of the modern era, including Panama, Desert Storm, Haiti, Korea, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
Come hear his story and his contributions to the United States. Afterwards, tour the Pettigrew-White-Stamps House Museum and see "Thomaston on the Home Front". The house is staged as a typical Upson County home during World War II. The museum is on the World War II Heritage Trail representing Georgia and its World War II history.
