Today, April 18, 2026, members of our Camp and Son's of Confederate Veterans Mechanized Cavalry 3rd Battalion, Company B, Troop 3 Midstate Defenders, and Troop 2 West gathered at the Patrick R. Cleburne Confederate Cemetery in Jonesboro, Georgia, for a Confederate memorial service..
This historic site was established in 1872 after the Georgia General Assembly funded the relocation of remains. It holds an estimated 600 to 1,000 Confederate soldiers — mostly unidentified — who fell during the Battle of Jonesboro on August 31–September 1, 1864. The headstones are deliberately arranged in the shape of the Confederate battle flag. The cemetery is named in honor of Major General Patrick R. Cleburne, a highly respected commander in that campaign (though he is not buried here).270d56
We pause to remember their sacrifice and courage. Lest we forget.
