Truth is like a dog whistle, only certain people can hear it.
Society must stop expecting humane societies, shelters, and rescues to fix a problem that an entire society created
If you are feeding stray cats, you are part of the solution, only if you are helping get them fixed (it is hard to hear, but it is true). Feeding without spaying/neutering only allows the cycle to continue. There are FREE RESOURCES in Washington to get community/feral cats fixed. All it takes is a bit of time and dedication
If you are a backyard breeder... those multiple litters of puppies that were cute when they were young and then unwanted, are fulling up the shelters. Those same puppies grow up and get euthanized for behavioral problems and bite history and sit in rescues for years
There are resources. There are programs. There are options. There is no excuse anymore. This is 2026, not 1989
GET INVOLVED. Doesn’t matter if you’re 18 or 70. I have seen disabled people do this work. I have seen seniors do the work. I have witnessed people that you would never imagine, pull together to help animals
The shelter cannot manage the crisis alone. Rescues cannot manage the crisis alone. Only the community as a whole can address it. It starts with you and your neighborhood. It starts with educating your friends, neighbors or family members.
Help create safety nets for animals. Less breeding. Less abandonment. Less suffering. Help find solutions. It is easier said than done. But it can be done. It starts with you. Because after all. You are some body. You are the help. You are the solution. ❤️🙌
