Marsh Education

Marsh Education Educating Arizona about native Arizona fishes -- one kiddo at a time! THAT’S FIN-TASTIC!!!

Marsh Education formed in 2013 as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 branch of Marsh & Associates, LLC, but did not begin visiting Arizona students until 2015-2016 school year. Since then and to date, almost 13,000 students received the Sharing Tails program, bringing the total to more than 48,000 students reached since 2008 when the Sharing Tails program was first developed! Marsh Education and Marsh & Associates, LLC are based in Tempe, Arizona.

Hola, friends! We are excited to announce that's our grant is now officially official!!! Gila River Basin Native Fish Program and Saguaro National Park are our local partners, and we cannot thank them enough! This partnership means that kindergarteners, first and second graders in Arizona will receive our Sharing Tails program FREE to their schools! And this means they will receive goodies like live online presentations, paper activities, our Counting Fish! book, and plastic native fish toys!!! Bonus for this partnership, we will create eight educational videos highlighiting six native Arizona fishes and two native Arizona snakes!!!

Thank you, friends, family, and Someburros!!!

Most native Arizona fishes are endangered, threatened or species of concern, and most Arizonans do not know that these fishes even exist. So, to help Arizonans to care about them, people need to learn about these fishes first. Marsh Education teaches kindergarteners, and first and second graders about native Arizona fishes. Our vision is that Arizonans appreciate, respect, and protect native Arizona fishes. Our mission is to educate Arizona’s children about native Arizona fishes. It’s that simple.

Our program is simple too, providing our program to schools for free if we have funding, either from donations or grants, or at a reduced rate if we only have donations. Then we "Zoom" in to see kids, having mailed them in advance coloring sheets, fish craft projects, writing booklets, a measuring skills task, and others depending on grade level. When fully funded with grants, we provide each kiddo with a 6-inch plastic fish designed exclusively for us by Safari Ltd and each school received a hard copy of our book, Counting Fish!

Few organizations in Arizona reach out to the younger grades like we do, and fewer still reach out about native Arizona fishes. This makes Marsh Education one of the special ones and we are proud of it. Thank you for joining us on our journey, supporting our organization and native Arizona fishes.

These pictures are from back in the day when we visited kiddos in person. 😍
