Cook Native American Ministries Foundation Charles H. Cook was a Presbyterian minister with a passion for ministry to Native Americans.

Cook Native American Ministries Foundation is a flourishing 501(c)3 non-profit public charity that provides grants to small and emerging community-based organizations, churches, tribal communities, and Native urban centers across the country. Reverend Cook was the “missionary to the Pima Indians” beginning in 1870 and was the first pastor to work side-by-side with Akimel O’odham “River People” (Pima tribe) as both missionary and teacher. In the spring of 1890 Reverend Cook founded a school with just five students, which was the realization of his vision. From these humble beginnings, Reverend Cook’s vision has grown and transformed to meet today’s challenges, empowering and equipping Native Americans for leadership in their churches and communities. With the emergence of the Cook Native American Ministries Foundation (CNAMF) in 2014, this vision is still alive. CNAMF was formed to provide educational opportunities to current and future leaders so that they can guide their communities and churches to influence the world at large. The services of our Foundation have been keenly identified with meeting Native American leadership needs.

Every Child Matters 🧡

Every Child Matters.🧡👋🏽

Today, we wear orange.

For the children who never made it home.
For the Survivors who did.
For the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of residential schools.

Orange Shirt Day is more than something we wear. It is a day to remember, to honour, to listen, and to acknowledge the truth of what happened to our children.

We honour the little ones who deserved to grow up surrounded by their families, their languages, their cultures, their ceremonies, and the love of their communities.

We honour the Survivors who carried their stories home.

And we honour the generations who continue to reclaim what was never meant to be taken from us.

May our children always know how deeply they are loved. May they know where they come from. May they grow up proud of who they are, surrounded by culture, kinship, language, and community.

Today and every day, we remember.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

May we never forget.

May we never forget.

Today, NIWRC joins survivors and relatives across in wearing orange, and honoring September 30 as the National Day of Remembrance for U.S. Indian Boarding Schools.🧡

Healing begins with truth. Our lost children and survivors are never forgotten, they remain in our hearts, always.🧡

Wear orange. Amplify voices. Support healing.

Take action with us and support the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition. 🪶
