Cook Native American Ministries Foundation Charles H. Cook was a Presbyterian minister with a passion for ministry to Native Americans.

Cook Native American Ministries Foundation is a flourishing 501(c)3 non-profit public charity that provides grants to small and emerging community-based organizations, churches, tribal communities, and Native urban centers across the country. Reverend Cook was the “missionary to the Pima Indians” beginning in 1870 and was the first pastor to work side-by-side with Akimel O’odham “River People” (Pi

ma tribe) as both missionary and teacher. In the spring of 1890 Reverend Cook founded a school with just five students, which was the realization of his vision. From these humble beginnings, Reverend Cook’s vision has grown and transformed to meet today’s challenges, empowering and equipping Native Americans for leadership in their churches and communities. With the emergence of the Cook Native American Ministries Foundation (CNAMF) in 2014, this vision is still alive. CNAMF was formed to provide educational opportunities to current and future leaders so that they can guide their communities and churches to influence the world at large. The services of our Foundation have been keenly identified with meeting Native American leadership needs.

Opportunities!

The Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, in partnership with the Rocky Boy Health Center, is recruiting participants for ᐁ ᐊᐤᓂᐠ ᐅᑕ ᐊᐢᑭᐠ (Returning to the Land) — a land-based cultural program for young parents and caregivers.

This initiative supports youth and families in reconnecting with traditional knowledge through storytelling and hands-on cultural activities led by Traditional Knowledge Holders. The program is designed to strengthen cultural identity, promote well-being, and support the prevention of substance misuse for future generations.

What a wonderful day it was - not only for the graduates, their families, the educators and mentors, but for all of Indian Country. Eight passionate and committed individuals graduated as part of the inaugural cohort of the TEIL (Theological Education for Indigenous Leaders), Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Berkeley, California. TEIL is a recipient of a CNAMF Sponsorship and we very proud to support their journey. Congratulations to all!
