Hispanic Heritage Month ended yesterday, and our Global Explorers are still celebrating! Turn the sound on.

On Tuesday, Coca-Cola Beverages Florida () presented 10 laptops to our class in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Our students learned this phrase in Spanish to say thank you:

Celebra la herencia hispana con Coca-Cola. (Celebrate Hispanic heritage with Coca-Cola!)

It took a few tries but that’s how learning works!

Thank you, Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, and thank you to our partner The HOST Program for their continued support – and providing great pizza!

Ten new laptops. One big THANK YOU, y’all!

Today, Coca-Cola Beverages Florida donated 10 laptops to ReDefiners in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. That is a real investment in our Global Explorers students: a learning tool for them and the class content they explore together.

Kiah Wilson and the Coke team joined us to share Coke’s three pillars: education, economic empowerment and sustainability. Education comes first on that list, and today it came to our classroom.

Thank you, Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, for this donation and for believing in our students. And thank you to our partner The HOST Program for the amazing support as always; and for providing pizza. Swipe to see the day.

Language carries identity. 🌎

On Indigenous Peoples' Day, we're celebrating the Indigenous languages behind words and place names we use every day. Skunk, hickory, pecan and raccoon all come from Native American languages. Closer to home, the Hillsborough River was first known as Locktsapopka, a Muskogee name meaning "where acorns are eaten."

These languages aren't just history. Mikasuki and Muscogee are still spoken in Florida today.

Swipe through to see where our everyday words come from, then share a word or place name you didn't know had Indigenous roots. 👇

Levanta la mano si tu hijo adolescente te ha dicho: "Sé la respuesta, pero no quiero decirla en inglés." 🙋🏽‍♀️

Pues vamos a arreglar eso. English for School Success regresa, y es gratis. 🎒

Listo. 🌍

Las clases empiezan a mediados de octubre. Los cupos vuelan, familia.

Raise your hand if your teen has said "I know the answer, I just don't wanna say it in English." 🙋🏽‍♀️

Okay, we fix that. English for School Success is back, and it's free. 🎒

Ages 9 to 13 and 14 to 18 each get their own group. They'll practice speaking up, asking for help, and finding their footing in U.S. classrooms, with no pressure and no side-eye. It's one hour a week for eight weeks, and all materials are included.

And big news: our Arabic Youth Club and Chinese Youth Club are new this year, for ages 9 to 18. Got a kid who wants a third language on the resume before they can drive? Done. 🌍

Classes start mid-October. Spots go fast, y'all.

Hispanic Heritage Month is here through October 15, and it is the perfect time to celebrate the Spanish words that show up in everyday English.

Here are five you probably use all the time. How many did you already know?
