From City of Tampa Water Department:
As of yesterday, the Tampa Water Department will temporarily change its water disinfection process. During this period, the Department will use chlorine instead of chloramine to disinfect the water distributed to all Tampa Water Department customers.

This temporary change is part of routine maintenance that protects the quality of drinking water by preventing bacteria from occurring in our water lines. The switch to chlorine disinfection will be in effect from May 29, 2026, through June 19, 2026.

The water is perfectly safe to drink during this period, though you may notice a difference in the taste or odor of the water. If you already take special steps to remove chloramine from tap water, you will likely want to take the same precautions during this temporary switch to chlorine.

Please do not hesitate to call the Utilities Call Center if you have questions at (813) 274-8811. We also provide additional information on our website at http://tampa.gov/ChlorineDisinfection.

From May 29–June 19, Tampa will temporarily use chlorine to disinfect drinking water. Water remains safe; info on taste, odor, and FAQs provided.

The City of Tampa began the Empedrado Street Water Main Replacement Project on May 4th. They also provided the below timeline and document.

Timeline:
Each block is expected to take approximately 5–6 weeks for:

-Pipe installation
-Service installation and inspections
-Temporary paving

Afterward, crews will return for restoration work, service tie-ins, and pressure testing, which may vary in duration.

As additional blocks are completed, we’ll be able to provide a better timeline. At this time, the project remains on schedule to be completed by the end of October.

-Attend Quarterly PCNA Board meetings (4x per year)
-Attend Quarterly General Member PCNA Meetings (3-4x/year)
-Chair/Co-Chair a Committee (Communications, Parks & Beautification, Land Use & Zoning, Business District, other committees to be formed)
-Host Quarterly Committee Meetings
-Assist PCNA Board and General Members with Neighborhood Needs/Improvements
-Attend meetings hosted by City/County and other Stakeholders as needed
-Engage with neighborhood residents to act as a liaison and steward of the Association

As the South Selmon Capacity Project advances, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is inviting our neighbors and local residents to attend a Community Open House on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Kate Jackson Center (821 S. Rome Ave.).

Attendees will have the opportunity to review the latest project maps, see updated renderings of underpasses and noise walls, and speak directly with members of the project team. This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions.

Future Leaders in Planning (FLiP) is a hands-on summer program designed to introduce students to the world of urban planning—a field we often don’t discover until college. Through this immersive experience, students gain a deeper understanding of how communities are shaped.
