BIG NEWS! The Tamaqua Anthracite Model Railroad Club, is moving forward with merging the club into the Schuylkill Historical Model Railroad Club of Pottsville, PA! Our members have unanimously voted for this, and negotiations are well under way to fully integrate all assets into the SHMRC!
You may ask, what led us to this decision to merge? Obtaining a new home that could accommodate an organization such as ours has not been easy, we are a non-profit that relies on donations, both physically and monetarily. We unfortunately had problems obtaining both during this difficult time.
However, we learned that the SHMRC was working on moving into a larger room at their current property (4 S. 2nd St., Room 410-411, Pottsville), which will bring a larger railroad to their members in the future. The membership of the TAMRC saw this as an opportunity to join forces, since the end goal of both organizations was essentially the same: Modeling the railroads of the past in Schuylkill County.
Is this the end for the TAMRC? Not necessarily, 2026 TAMRC members have been absorbed into the SHMRC, and we continue to regularly meet, but now at the SHMRC.
But what about a club in Tamaqua? For now, there is none, but it does not mean it will always be that way. There is nothing to say another could form, but it will take the help of many to make this happen.
