Wildlife Learning Center (WLC) is a zoological park nestled in an old olive grove in Sylmar, California, where visitors can appreciate and learn about animals from around the world. WLC is dedicated to providing life-long care to more than 100 displaced, rescued, and zoo-born wild animals from about 50 different species that call this shady, natural environment home. WLC has given more than 22,000 educational presentations since 1998 to hundreds of thousands of people.

For the past few weeks, we have been working on introducing our two male bobcats Jasper & Sur, and as you can see it is continuing to go very well!

Sur came to the center back in 2023 after being hit by a car and deemed non-releasable. Jasper is one of our newest additions and came back in April of this year after being found in the wild and being suspected to be a former pet.

Barb, the North American Porcupine. Although she doesn’t look very spiky, she has about 30,000 quills that she can use to defend herself! Those quills are barbed at the end, allowing them to stay stuck in a predators skin when used (and also how Barb got her name!)
