We have bittersweet news: after 3 months in service dog training, Raven has been released for body sensitivity issues. We knew that she was sensitive to the big guide dog harness but we were hoping that she could build up her tolerance enough to be able to wear a service dog harness. Alas, despite diligent work on the part of the trainers, she was not happy in the harness, and GDA|TLC will never force a dog to work. The happy result is that we have adopted her, and today, Jade and I drove up to GDA to get her. Raven is now our FURever pet, little sister to Navi, and mentor to Wallaby (and any future puppies we raise). Follow her further adventures on our general puppy raising page ( )

I'm not going to sugarcoat it - today was a tough day. I suppose it gets a little easier each time, especially as we see the life changing effect these dogs have on people's lives, but at the end of the day we're still coming home without a smart little wiggle butt that we've spent hundreds of hours training, and there's an empty crate that smells like her. It doesn't help that she was confused about being left in the kennel - she hasn't spent as much time there as some of our previous puppies.We'll be sad tonight and jump right back in tomorrow with training Jax and thinking of names for the next puppy. 💙

This is a week of "lasts" with Raven. Yesterday was her last Bible study and her last Sisterchicks book club. Don't tell anyone but I let some of our Sisterchicks give her a pup cup. She enjoyed it immensely! 💜

Service puppy-in-training Raven visited Fall Harvest market today and had a great time! She got to visit with people while her raisers told them about and the service dog program she'll be entering next week. Raven did a great job ignoring the off leash dog that was running around, which is great practice for when she's a fully-trained service dog and has to give her handler her full attention. 1st photo is of Raven on a hay bale with an orange "Hello Fall" sign; 2nd photo is Raven settling while her raiser chats with the folks.
