A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday for the official unveiling of our newly painted mural walls at Hammerberg Memorial VFW Post 3720 in Swartz Creek!

We were especially honored to welcome members of the Hammerberg family, relatives of Medal of Honor recipient Owen Francis Patrick Hammerberg, for whom our post is proudly named. Their presence made this occasion even more meaningful.

This project would not have been possible without the incredible support of the students and teachers from the Genesee County Career Institute, the generous contributions from Behr Paint, Dort Financial, local community members and the dedicated volunteers from our VFW family. We are grateful for the hard work and community spirit that brought this vision to life.

Thank you to everyone who attended and celebrated with us. We invite our community to continue joining us for our public events and activities throughout the year.

Your support means the world to us as we continue our mission of serving veterans, honoring their sacrifices, and strengthening our community.

🇺🇸 Honoring Hammerberg! 🇺🇸

Don't miss this meaningful community event THIS Friday, June 5th, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Hammerberg Memorial VFW Post 3720 in Swartz Creek.

Our Post proudly bears the name of Owen Francis Patrick Hammerberg, a U.S. Navy diver and Medal of Honor recipient who made the ultimate sacrifice in 1945 while rescuing fellow divers trapped beneath heavy steel wreckage in Pearl Harbor. A Michigan native from Daggett, Michigan, Hammerberg's courage, selflessness, and dedication to his fellow service members continue to inspire us today.

Join us as we unveil our newly painted mural, celebrate the legacy of this American hero, and honor the veterans who have served our nation in every military branch. Refreshments will be available, and you'll have an opportunity to learn more about our mission and ways to support local veterans.

We would be honored by your presence. If you're able, please consider purchasing one of our commemorative challenge coins to help further our mission of serving veterans, their families, and our community.

Together, let's celebrate service, sacrifice, and community.

Whether you're a veteran, family member, or community supporter, we invite you to join us throughout the month.

🧹 June 3 – Clean Up the Post Day (9:00 AM – Whenever)
Help us tidy up the grounds and prepare the Post for a busy summer season. Whether you can stay all day or just lend a hand for an hour, your help is greatly appreciated!

🎨 June 5 – Mural Wall Unveiling Open House (4:00–8:00 PM)
Celebrate our newly painted mural with a special presentation at 6:00 PM. Refreshments will be available, and you'll have opportunities to learn how to support local veteran organizations.

This beautiful mural honors the sacrifices and service of our nation's veterans and reminds us that "We Are All in Debt to a Vet."

Come celebrate with us, enjoy refreshments, meet members of our local veteran organizations, and learn how you can support those who have served our country.

This event is open to the community, and we'd love to share this special moment with our friends, neighbors, and supporters.
