GWCC supports cycling & fitness in the Genesee County, MI area. If you enjoy bike riding with other cyclists in the greater Flint area, you are invited to become a member of the Genesee Wanderers Bicycle Club. We sponsor weekly Sunday morning rides, and Tuesday night rides out of Lennon and Davison on scenic, flat, low traffic roads. We also host two special social events every year, the Spring Po

tluck New Member meeting and the Annual Holiday Pot Luck in December. As the major event of the year we organize the famous Assenmacher 100 on the third Sunday in August. During the winter we also run a weekend Cross-Country Ski program. Everyone participating in a Wanderers ride is expected to wear securely fastened bicycle helmet, to obey all laws regulating vehicles, and to ride in a courteous and safe manner.

Karen, Joseph and I discussed doing a reprise THIS SUNDAY of our orchard ride that was done in mid-October. The route takes us to 4 locations on mixed surfaces, starting from Bueche's Food World on Main St. in Flushing. The route is on both paved and gravel roads, so a gravel or hybrid bike would be recommended. We are planning to do the ride this SUNDAY starting later in the day for warmer temperatures. As long as you can use the RWGPS route, you can ride with the group or at your own pace. I anticipate an average pace of 12-14 mph for the group.

DATE: Sunday, NOVEMBER 2, 2025
START TIME: 12:00 PM NOON
START LOCATION: Bueche's Food World, 300 W. Main St., Flushing, MI. 48433
PACE: 12-14 mph (or your own pace)
DISTANCE: 32.9 miles (Note: If you know the area, you can cut your ride short by skipping the last two orchards and returning to Bueche's after leaving Montrose.)

REVISION: I found out that the Flushing river trail is closed this weekend for the community's annual Trail of Terror event, so the route has been revised to used city streets instead to go north on McKinley Road.

The "C-Group" has been doing an annual orchard ride in the Flushing area each year. For this year, we have a route planned that takes us to 4 locations on mixed surfaces, starting from Bueche's Food World on Main St. in Flushing out to Flushing Farms, then Montrose Orchards, then south to Koan and Al-Mar Orchards. The roads will be paved and gravel, so a gravel or hybrid bike would be recommended. We are planning to do the ride this Saturday, but if rain comes sooner than predicted, we'll target the following Saturday as a secondary option. As long as you can use the RWGPS route, you can ride with the group or at your own pace. I anticipate an average pace of 13-15 for the group.

DATE: Saturday, October 18 (Rain-out alternate date: October 25)

START TIME: 9:00 am

START LOCATION: Bueche's Food World, 300 W. Main St., Flushing, MI. 48433
