Class 2: Fireworks in Michigan (Day 1)/Extrication (Day 2) – 830 Davis Lake Rd, Lapeer MI (Lapeer County Firefighters Training Center)
Day 1: Fireworks in Michigan – Instructor: Mick Dingman, Bureau of Fire Services – Fireworks Enforcement Unit
This session provides an overview of consumer and commercial fireworks, including how they are classified and regulated. Participants will learn about the responsibilities and authority of the State Fire Marshal’s Office in licensing, inspections, enforcement, and safety oversight. The course will help understand the fireworks industry, common compliance issues, and their role in ensuring public safety during the sale, storage, and use of fireworks.
Day 2: Extrication – Instructor: Scott McCloud (MacQueen Emergency Rescue specialist) – Topics to be covered during this training session: pre-arrival information, supplemental restraint systems, EV considerations, modern vehicle construction, vehicle preparation, basic and advanced stabilization, multiple techniques for side opening/removal, roof displacement, dash displacement.
