June 1st marks the beginning of PTSD Awareness Month.
For many people, PTSD is just four letters.
For us, it’s the veteran who hasn’t slept through the night in years.
It’s the spouse carrying a burden they don’t know how to explain.
It’s the first responder who can’t turn off what they’ve seen.
It’s the family trying to understand why someone they love isn’t the same person they used to be.
At H.O.O.V.E.S., PTSD isn’t a statistic. It’s a reality we see every day. It’s the stories shared around campfires, the tears shed in arenas, the breakthroughs that happen when a horse sees what words cannot.
This month will not be a quiet one.
We will raise awareness.
We will share stories.
We will honor the warriors, caregivers, and families walking this journey.
We will educate our communities.
And most importantly, we will remind people that healing is possible.
PTSD may be part of someone’s story, but it does not have to be the end of it.
Join us this month as we shine a light on the invisible wounds carried by so many and the hope that exists on the other side of them.
Healing starts with awareness.
