Brunswick Search and Rescue Brunswick Search and Rescue BSAR provides search and rescue services to the residents of Brunswick County, NC, and surrounding counties.

We specialize in providing K9 teams -- wilderness air scent, human remains detection and tracking -- for the location of missing people. We also have a 17-foot boat equipped with side-scan sonar that can be used in the recovery of drowning victims. We only respond to searches as requested by law enforcement agencies.

Today BSAR reviewed some basic SAR fundamentals at Brunswick Community College. We built shelters, covered basic wilderness first aid, determined our tally steps for land navigation, and reviewed handheld GPS operation. This class was a follow up to a class where we discussed SAR organization/Incident Command Structure, pack requirements, and basic knots. Next classes will cover SARTOPO, and more detailed land navigation.
