Brunswick Search and Rescue Brunswick Search and Rescue BSAR provides search and rescue services to the residents of Brunswick County, NC, and surrounding counties.

We specialize in providing K9 teams -- wilderness air scent, human remains detection and tracking -- for the location of missing people. We also have a 17-foot boat equipped with side-scan sonar that can be used in the recovery of drowning victims. We only respond to searches as requested by law enforcement agencies.

Another great training day…this morning was a little cooler! In addition to trailing, airscent, HRD and drone training we conducted some “dry boat “water HRD training. Thanks Keith “MacGyver” for the scent machine it worked great.

K9 Lucy and her handler had a great time today reading stories with an adorable group of preschoolers at Grow Early Learning in Rocky Point. The kids were great and of course they enjoyed Lucy. Lucy did get to demo her bag of tricks to include finding one of the kids hidden among the cubbies. It was a great experience for all of us since all the kids were ESL but they all understood the universal language of Lucy ❤️

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team Helps Locate Missing Patient! Sgt. John Smith and K9 Tango responded to help locate an endangered patient who ran away from a hospital on 8/8/26. Sgt. Smith deployed K9 Tango from the place where the missing person was last seen running from hospital security and trailed into the woods. Tango exited the woods pulling hard and showing proximity behavior. Sgt. Smith and K9 Tango trailed across the front field of the hospital as Deputies on the perimeter located the missing person ahead of the K9 Team’s path.

“Sgt. Smith and K9 Tango’s scent discriminate training helped to place search resources in the right place to quickly locate the endangered patient,” stated Scent Evidence K9 CEO Paul Coley.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating Joshua Richard Carlisle.

• DOB: May 23, 2009
• Description: 6’1”, approximately 150–160 lbs., White male

Last Known Location:Joshua was last seen around 12:00 a.m. in the 3000 block of Bird Drive in Shallotte.

Last Seen Wearing:
👕 White shirt
👖 Blue jeans
👟 White Nike Air Force 1 shoes

His direction of travel and mode of transportation are unknown.
