At Tuesday’s Sunnyvale Rotary Club meeting, we welcomed Christine Velasquez, Economic Development Manager for the City of Sunnyvale!

Christine shared updates on what’s happening around the city, how local businesses contribute to tax revenue that supports city services, and upcoming developments, including the new Applied Materials lab.

Thank you, Christine, for helping us better understand the connection between our local economy and a thriving Sunnyvale community!

At our Tuesday Club Assembly, we welcomed Sunnyvale Education School District Librarian Julie Griffin who described the “Libraries Refresh” project proposed for funding as one of the four proposed grant projects. We are raising a total of $100,000 in celebration of our club’s 100th anniversary year.

We had visitors from near and far, including representatives from the Soccer Alliance and the Greenbelt Alliance. We were delighted to exchange Rotary Club flags with Dr. Minakshi Dash and Sreekantha Sarangi from the Rotary Club of Cuttack Greater in India.

♻️ Creativity, Sustainability & Community!

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming FabMo to the Rotary Club of Sunnyvale!

FabMo is doing wonderful work by rescuing beautiful designer materials—fabrics, wallpapers, tiles, trims, and more—that might otherwise end up in landfills, and making them available to artists, teachers, makers, and the community.

It was fascinating to learn how discarded materials can be given a second life through creativity and reuse. 🌎💚

At yesterday’s Rotary lunch meeting, we were pleased to welcome Lili Pacheco for an engaging presentation on Global Citizenship.

Lili shared stories about the different languages she speaks and how her multilingual background helps her connect with people from many cultures. She also discussed her work with children through a variety of library and community programs.

Lili is a librarian at the Sunnyvale Public Library, holds a master’s degree in library science, and serves on the Board of Directors of Sunnyvale Sister City Association.
Thank you, Lili, for sharing your experiences and for reminding us how language, education, and service can bring communities together!

They shared how their chapter sends care packages to service members overseas and supports veterans through its work in local hospitals and throughout the community. Sunnyvale Rotarians gathered at Old Greenwood Grill on Friday to celebrate and thank President Ruta Sharma for her year as president 2025-2026. Great food and fellowship as we shared successes and looked to the year ahead.

t was an honor to welcome District Governor Dr. Geeta Kadambi to our club!

Dr. Kadambi began her visit by spending time with our Board, followed by joining all of our Rotary members for our regular club meeting. We truly appreciated the time she took to connect with us, learn more about our club, and share her perspective on Rotary and the impact we can continue to make together.

Dr. Kadambi congratulated Rosa Kim on receiving her “Blue Badge” as a Sunnyvale Rotarian, along with her sponsor Mary Green Vickrey.

It was especially meaningful to hear her recognize our club’s commitment to service projects, literacy, and our local community, as well as the exciting milestone of our 100th anniversary.

Thank you, Dr. Kadambi, for your leadership, encouragement, and for taking the time to be with us. We are proud of our club’s history and excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue Service Above Self. 💙💛
