Support Sun City Flags on Flag Day

Since 1960, Sun City has proudly flown the American, Arizona and Sun City flags at 107th and Grand avenues. The flags represent the patriotic spirit of our community.

All three were taken down recently, as work is underway to respectfully retire and replace them with new flags. The flag pictured above is the first-ever Sun City community flag designed as an inclusive representation of our entire community.

To help support this effort and help the community raise three new, strong flags, donations can be mailed to Sun City PRIDES at PO Box 1463, Sun City AZ 85372. Thank you for your support.

The Origins of Flag Day

That the flag of the United States shall be of thirteen stripes of alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white in a blue field, representing the new constellation.

This was the resolution adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. The resolution was made following the report of a special committee which had been assigned to suggest the flag’s design.

Today, we celebrate the day, as we move toward the 250th Birthday of this nation. Join us to celebrate our nation's history.

Introducing Arizona Department of Transportation:
The Listening Tour

The Listening Tour is something ADOT has never done before. We are reaching deep into local communities across the state to strengthen relationships and work together to develop a shared statewide vision for the future of transportation. We call this “Next Move Arizona."

A statewide vision is important because it:

🚙 Builds a clear destination, avoiding disjointed or disconnected plans.
🚗 Works toward efficiencies in funding, connectivity and a complete transportation system.
🚘 We’re starting with listening because we want a transportation system that works for everyone in Arizona.

We know not all needs are being met, so we’re asking: What’s needed? What’s the vision? Where are we falling short, and where should we aim?

Not everyone sees the same vision, but by coming together, we can create a shared direction that gets us where we want to go.

Attend the Webinar/ virtual meeting on Tuesday, June 16 at 6:00 p.m. ➡ Register online using this link: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_noB1DqudS26TuiMHLgn7Gw #/registration

Residents are receiving postcards from EPCOR, like the one pictured here, inviting them to attend an upcoming a Sun City Water District meeting. To access the meeting information, they included a QR code for you to scan to find the details, but to make it easier for you here are the details:

Share Your AMERICA250 Photos and Pride!

"We have always been passionate about the 4th of July and our country. My father-in-law, Norman “Mac” McBroom was born on the 4th of July so it was always a great family celebration. Mac also served in WWII and was stationed overseas for 39 months straight without seeing family or friends."

"So it was also a celebration of the freedoms we enjoy because of our service members service to our country. As you can see we love the 4th of July and our great Country!!!" - Dan & Linda McBroom

Arizona is growing and we want your input!

As part of our Next Move Arizona statewide listening tour, we're hosting a virtual public meeting to hear about your transportation challenges and needs.

📆Tuesday, June 16
🕝6 p.m.
🔗Register now: nextmoveaz.com

The session will feature remarks by ADOT Director Jennifer Toth, followed by an interactive session to gather feedback on transportation issues and priorities and a demonstration of an online mapping tool to provide location-specific comments.

“We have visited locations around the state with a goal of strengthening the connection between our transportation system and the communities it serves,” Toth said. “This interactive virtual session is a chance for us to hear from those we may not get to see in person.”

Can’t make the meeting? You can still participate anytime through the online survey and commenting on an interactive map.

The Next Move Arizona listening tour launched in late 2025 and is scheduled to continue through July. To date, the tour has included approximately 60 in-person listening sessions throughout the state with cities and towns, tribal nations, regional planning organizations and community organizations, as well as Next Move Arizona booths at 14 community events.
