What we thought was going to be a normal Monday pulling clothes turned to a different Monday, when "the" call came in from VOAD Sunday night, that a grandfather(his wife had passed away in 2023) taking care of his 2 year old grandson, had just lost everything in a fire... Yes EVERYTHING!.. VOAD put them up in a hotel for the week and another wonderful church donated 7 more nights.. So the wheels started turning... The Hope Chest wonderful volunteers pulled the clothes, baby items and toys(the little boy loved the toys) needed for the family and our wonderful Statesboro Food Bank pulled several boxes of food.. items the baby would like as well as breakfast items..... All the clothes, food and breakfast was delivered to the grandfather.. He was overwhelmed with the amount of help that happened so fast.. (Still wearing the same clothes when his home burned).. So that is what happens when there is a burn out locally... This community comes together!

A call came in today... The need for coats to give to the fair workers so they can stay warm.. so Fostering Bulloch Hope Chest went to work to pull together sizes needed. Katherine Parks, chair of the Kiwanis coat committee, filled her SUV and picked up coats to go with the cases of black hoodies we had given her before.. NOW all sizes in hand the coats will be given out to all the fair workers, Tuesday at Kiwanis community building.. They will be fed a good home cooked meal, given the chance to pick out a coat, given a pillow and blanket. We sure have a wonderful giving committee..
