We have a great meeting scheduled on Thursday night. The Cvitkovics' have built new cattle working facilities and are kind enough to have us out to look at what works and doesn't with the new system. Burgers and dogs will be served so come hungry.

At the Kentucky Association of County Agriculture Agents (KACAA) yearly meeting at Natural Bridge State Park, Larry Young was awarded the Lay Leader Award and became an Honorary County Extension Agent. Larry's passion for bees and teaching the craft of beekeeping is unmatched. We are so proud to have him as a part of our Extension Family here in Powell County.

What an incredible day at our Annual Safety Day for Powell County 3rd graders! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš

Last week our students had the opportunity to learn important, life skills on topics ranging from cooking safety to emergency responseโ€”and they did an amazing job engaging, asking questions, and soaking it all in.

A huge THANK YOU to the many individuals and organizations who made this day possible: RRG Discovery Zone MiddleFork Fire/Rescue #874 Stanton Fire Department Clay City Fire Department Powell County Health Department Stanton Police Department Powell County Emergency Medical Services Powell County Dispatch, Leandra Knox, Kevin Babcock, and April Tipton.

And a very special thank you to Air Methods Mount Sterling for an unforgettable surprise helicopter landing that truly made the day one our students will never forget!

Weโ€™re grateful for a community that comes together to invest in the safety and education of our kids. ๐Ÿ’™

We had some visitors from Bowen Elementary School today!

Bowen 5th grade students participated in Recipes for Life, a cooking and nutrition program. Students took a day long field-trip to the Extension Office where they learned about food safety, kitchen safety, knife skills, measurement conversion, reading recipes, and other aspects of food preparation before getting to cook for themselves.
We prepared a five course meal of tomato bruschetta, pork meatballs, honey butter corn, chopped salad with homemade ranch dressing, and very berry salsa. Students then came together to eat their meal as a group.

Thank you to our wonderful community partners for their time and support!
