We’re so excited to Reintroduce Mira! She’s officially ready to trade training days for forever days!

Mira is Small-but-mighty- under 40 lbs. She’s athletic, engaged, and the kind of dog who would love having something fun to do with her person!

❤️ Mira craves affection and returns it with endless love and devotion

🐾 Professionally trained — Mira has a great foundation and is eager to work with you.

🎾 Fun, active & engaged — she loves walks, playing tug, training, and having your full attention.

🐕 Doing well with dogs — with slow, thoughtful introductions, Mira has been running and playing beautifully with other dogs. A lower-energy dog could be a good match for her in a home after a thoughtful introduction, although she would also be very happy being the center of attention.

Mira’s story is a reminder that the way a dog presents in the shelter under the most stressful moments of their lives doesn’t define who they are. Mira was ALL love to ALL people….yet A rushed decision over her being dog friendly would have cost her everything.

Mira would be such a fun dog for someone who wants a companion to get out, explore, train, and do things with—and then come home and settle in beside them.

Rain is growing into one seriously special little girl. 🤍

At 3 months old, Rain is a happy, playful puppy with a big personality and an even bigger love for cuddles. If you’re looking for a puppy who can keep up with your dog and snuggle up with you afterward—Rain is your girl!

Everyone is SAFE!!!!! crying happy tears today that ALL of these dogs are getting a second chance!!!

I can’t explain the feeling of helplessness I felt not having any fosters open to help. the uncertainty of their fate after spending weeks loving on and working with these pups as their stress built in the shelter.

I almost kept scrolling.

A shared Facebook post showed two puppies—bones protruding, big bellies—living outside on someone’s property. Free. Come and get them.

I try hard to focus on dogs in shelters—but then I noticed the date. They had been out there, uncared for, over 10 days.

My offer for rescue was pushed back for days. Foster Laing tried a different approach and was told she could get them that very night!

With no hesitation. She made the long drive and spent hours coaxing two terrified puppies from under a trailer. Night had fallen, the female was caught but her brother had spooked and retreated too deep under the trailer.

As impossible as it felt, the decision was made to get his sister to safety and return for him the next day.

There were immediate concerns about how sick she was. Instead home, she went straight to Focus Pet Care ER.

Waiting for our fears to be confirmed with a Parvo test.

Negative. 🤍

But she was severely anemic, dehydrated, covered in fleas, full of worms, low white blood cell count, and completely shut down.

Thankfully, she was stabilized and went home to recover. The next day, with help from Laing’s fiancé Blake, her brother was also safe!That boots-on-the-ground rescue work—problem-solving and taking initiative—is what got these babies to safety!

Their reunion was one of puppy hugs, as if she was telling him it’s ok brother we’re safe

Meet Rain and her brother Spirit 🤍

Only 10 weeks old, they had been surviving beneath a trailer and around dumpsters for weeks with only each other. We’re seeing an unhealthy codependency and are working on separate experiences and building confidence apart.

They are understandably unsure, but learning quickly. They accept affection, are making wonderful progress, and their puppy personalities come alive with play among other dogs.

We are now looking for the right foster for Spirit— one with another friendly dog, someone home often, and time to help him build confidence and independence.

For weeks of their young lives, Rain and Spirit had only each other.

Now they’re learning they have people, too—and the world is a kind place after all.

There’s something so special about watching a senior rescue realize life can still be this good!

Timber has been with us for a few months now, and somehow this wonderful boy still hasn’t had any inquiries.

He’s out here soaking up every adventure, enjoying beach days, belly rubs, fetch, and all the little things that make life sweet.

When a morning walk becomes a rescue mission.

Driving toward the park I spotted a sad dog in the road. I shimmied past Poppy, grabbed a slip, and slowly approached. Thankfully, she let me leash her without to much resistance.

Up close, her body told a story we may never fully know. A dog who had been bred over and over again. Missing hair. Masses. No bottom front teeth. Overgrown nails. Gunk blocking her beautiful blue eyes.

She wasn’t ready to be touched. She was growly. She didn’t know me or my intentions and had every reason to be unsure of people. So I waited for St. Johns County Animal Control.

She couldn’t safely be handled, and getting her into their truck would have meant a catch pole. I was also told she would have a 3day hold, but if she continued to appear aggressive, euthanasia would be the outcome.

But I wasn’t looking at an aggressive dog.
I was looking at a scared one.

While we stood there deciding what came next, she looked up at me.

She whined. She moved close.
And then… a tail wag. That was it.

I put a crate in front of her and opened the door. She walked right in. I thanked them and told them they could go.

I called my close friend Cassidy with Inked K9, my go-to when there’s an emergency. We talked through what taking her on might look like. Whatever was ahead, we agreed she deserved the chance to learn what life could feel like when she was safe. My son came for Poppy, and I headed toward Cassidy.

A short walk. Gentle voices. No pressure. And already, she started to soften.

Back into the crate for the second half of her ride. A long goodbye and her defensive growls slowly started sounding a little more like the dramatic husky chatter we know and love.

For now, we’re asking nothing from her.
She gets to decompress.
She gets to eat.
She gets to sleep comfortably.
She gets to be safe.

Once she’s settled, we’ll start figuring out what her body needs—her skin, heartworm status, the masses, her overall health and eventual spay.

We’ve named her Nova.
Because after so much darkness, she has come into the light of her new beginning.

There’s still a long road ahead, but she no longer has to walk it alone.

Most mornings, we take a walk.
But some mornings, a rescue chooses us

Today our loyal, goofy, fun-loving girl is celebrating another year of bringing joy to those around her!

Lady is the whole package! Always ready for an adventure, eager to please, and full of love to give. She is professionally trained through Inked K9, off-leash trained for adventure, walks beautifully on leash, knows all her commands, and is more than ready to become someone’s devoted companion.

What Lady wants most is a person to call her own—a forever home where she can be celebrated every day!
