Why spiritual maturity requires more than knowing about God. There is a quiet frustration that many Christians carry but rarely talk about. They love Jesus. They believe in His goodness. They attend church, read Scripture, pray, and genuinely desire to grow closer to Him. Yet, beneath the surface, something still feels unsettled.

They continue to wrestle with the same fears, insecurities, anxieties, and emotional patterns. They know what Scripture says about peace, but they struggle to experience it. They believe God loves them, yet something deep within still feels unworthy of love. They understand forgiveness, but their souls continue to carry the wounds of the past.

It's a strange disconnect. We can know so much about God and still struggle to experience His presence in the deepest parts of ourselves. KEEP READING:

There’s something sacred about stepping away from the noise and making space for God.
Our time in Cannon Beach was a beautiful reminder that we don’t have to strive for His presence. We simply have to become still enough to recognize that He is already here.
Between the rhythm of the ocean, the beauty of creation, and the gift of shared silence, we made room to rest, reflect, and simply be with Him.
We leave with grateful hearts for every soul who came away with us, and for the quiet ways God meets us when we make space.

“Men without chests,” is a term that was coined by C.S. Lewis, in his book, “The Abolition of Man.” He was one of the most influential Christian spiritual writers of the 20th Century.  He opens his book with this concept that society is forming men without chests, without heart and soul. He saw this phenomenon as one of the greatest detriments to the modern man and even more profound to men who follow Christ.

Most men know the feeling before they have words for it. You can run the meeting, fix the leak, lead the team, and provide for the people who depend on you. Then your son asks you a real question or your wife asks what you are actually feeling. Or maybe you stand at a graveside and wait for something to rise in you and nothing does. It is not coldness exactly, it’s more like an empty room. The place where the right response should live was never furnished.
