SURVEY SAYS!!!

Thank you everyone who completed our survey. We value your opinions and look forward to the partnership we will create in the 26/27 school year.

We'd first like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our outgoing PTO board members for their hard work, leadership, and dedication to Masonic Heights Elementary. Your time, passion, and commitment have helped create incredible experiences for our students, staff, and families. One of the biggest takeaways from our survey was the number of positive comments about PTO events and activities. We are committed to building onto that legacy.

We have attached graphs in the comments to show the responses to events- We will be discussing and planning closer to each event- watch our social media accounts and your child’s backpack for more information 😊

There was feedback in regard to our PTO meetings (which are the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the media center, 6pm- open to all)-
Request for child care option at meetings-
Great news! Last year we implemented having a National Junior Honor Society Member attend each meeting to entertain the kiddos. We will be continuing this initiative this year, so come on in and bring the family 😊

Request for a remote option of attending-
We post a google link to each meeting, available 30 minutes prior. Set an alarm and join us from your living room 😊

Request for meeting agenda to be made public prior to each meeting-
We will start listing points of discussion for each meeting. This way, if there is a subject or event that you would like to know about or be part of the planning- you will know when those specific topics will be discussed

We received a suggestion regarding pictures being taken at events- it was noted that a few classes were rarely photographed while other classes seemed to be the main focus- we apologize for that appearance. We definitely want to make sure that the entire school is represented in any event we plan. We will make sure to assign a PTO Member to make sure all the moments and memories are captured at future events

Lastly, we have received feedback regarding giving more planning power to the students and parents when deciding themes, events, ect. We would like to offer parents an opportunity to be more of a part of the planning process. Either by Co-Chairing an event with Two PTO Board members or volunteering to help with setting up an event. We have attached another survey 😊 This one is to provide you with the opportunity to sign up to help, or to get for more information. Our commitment this year is to make sure our families feel like a part of our process. It really is a whole community effort. We are just liaisons and representatives of the school- It's the support from families, students, faculty and the Lake Shore Community that makes us great.

📵 SCREEN TIME ROLLBACK

💡 Technology remains an important learning tool, but the goal is to make sure it’s being used intentionally, purposefully, and when it best supports student learning.

We’re taking a thoughtful look at how technology is used across our schools — with a renewed focus on hands-on learning, meaningful connections, creativity, and age-appropriate technology use.

🔴 PREK–2ND GRADE
• High Play / Low Tech
• Very limited to no screen time at school
• Chromebook access limited

⚪ 3RD–5TH GRADE
• Limited to minimal screen time
• Chromebook access assigned/limited

🔴 6TH–12TH GRADE
• Continued 1:1 access to school-issued Chromebooks
• Technology use under instructional and curricular review

Chromebook insurance information will be shared tomorrow morning. Based on our screen time rollback plan, you can then make an informed decision about whether purchasing the insurance is the right choice for your family.
