๐Ÿš‚ ALL ABOARD! BIG NEWS FROM THE LOCOMOTIVE! ๐Ÿš‚

Someone who has been following my journey ever since my Rescue Momma took me in, has put in an application to adopt ME!

I hear she has lots of husky experience and already has huskies of her own, including Nemo, who my Rescue Momma posted last month from our county shelter. She also has a big yard for me to zoom around in. Momma says there's going to be a new daddy there too, and if you've been following along, you know I LOVE bonding with the man of the house!

I'm not sure if they have a train track in their yard, but don't worry. I'll make it work. A Locomotive can make tracks anywhere! ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ’จ

Can you believe all of this? I'm going to be part of a happy family!

And the best part yet...

๐Ÿšจ RESCUE MOMMA SAID YES TO THE APPLICATION! ๐Ÿšจ

WHOOP! The Locomotive will soon be advancing past GO and arriving at his brand new station. While Momma's heart might be a little heavy, she knows this is exactly why rescue exists.

From stray boy found near the tracks, to beloved family member.

Next stop...

๐Ÿพ Courtesy Post for Conrad Canine Rescue and Sanctuary ๐Ÿพ

Today, Conrad Canine Rescue and Sanctuary reached out to us about a handsome young husky named Leo who is looking for his forever home.

Leo is:
๐Ÿบ 1.5 years old
โœ… Fully vetted
๐Ÿพ Has basic manners
โค๏ธ Good with other dogs

Conrad specializes in German Shepherds, so unfortunately many people who visit them aren't specifically looking for a husky. We wanted to help spread the word and give this sweet boy a better chance at finding his family.

Leo is currently located at
2559 Creekwood CRT
Springfield Ohio 45504 Springfield, and can be picked up directly from Conrad Canine Rescue and Sanctuary.

If you're interested in adopting Leo, please visit their website to submit an application. His adoption fee is $400.

Let's help get this boy seen! Please share and help Leo find the loving home he deserves. ๐Ÿพโค๏ธA little signal boost can sometimes change a dog's whole story. ๐Ÿบโœจ

Mr. Locomotive has come a long way since arriving at Buckeye Husky Rescue and Rehome.

At less than 2 years old, he was found running along railroad tracks, scared and unsure of people. Today, he is a goofy, loving boy with a huge personality and a heart that's finally learning what it means to trust.

In the beginning, Loco did not like anyone reaching toward his head. He would flinch and pull away. Now? He'll actually lift your hand with his nose so you'll pet him, all while giving his signature low growl. Don't worry, that's just his way of talking to you. ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿบ

Loco definitely has opinions. He seems to bond faster with men than women. I can call him inside, and he'll look at me like I'm speaking another language and head the opposite direction. Hubby calls him, and suddenly he's coming in full speed ahead!

Once Locomotive chooses you, though, he chooses you completely. He loves to place his paws on your chest, stare right into your eyes, and soak up every bit of affection you have to give. It's his way of saying, "You're my person now."

He does well with most of the dogs here, although like many of us, there are a couple he would rather admire from a distance. ๐Ÿ˜†

Mr. Locomotive is now officially ready for adoption!

If you'd like to come meet this handsome, train-loving goofball, send us a message. If you'd like an application, comment below and we'll get one to you.

And keep an eye on our page this weekend... because Mr. Locomotive will be starring in his very own video! ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿš‚

XENA'S STORY ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

Six months ago, Xena entered this world a little different.

She can't walk like other puppies. Instead, she hops like a bunny across the yard, determined to keep up with life. Sometimes her front legs give out and flail to the sides. Sometimes she face plants into the grass.

And every single time...

She picks herself back up.

No tears. No giving up. No feeling sorry for herself.

She simply hops away again, tail wagging, happy to be alive.

When we picked Xena up last week, we knew she deserved more than guesses. We knew she deserved answers.

After a lot of thought, we've decided to skip a regular vet appointment and take her directly to The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center Neurology Department. She is up to date on vaccines, and what she needs now are specialists, advanced testing, and a real diagnosis. Her appointment is 06/29, at 1pm, in Columbus OH.

We don't know yet exactly what's wrong.

We do know that testing will be expensive.

We do know she will likely need specialized equipment or braces to help keep her front legs together and improve her mobility.

And we do know this:

This little girl is worth every penny.

Xena doesn't know she's different.

She doesn't know specialists are expensive.

She doesn't know her future is uncertain.

She just knows she wants to play in the grass, chase the breeze, and love everyone she meets.

Today, we're asking for help.

If her story touched your heart, would you consider making a donation toward her neurological consult, testing, and whatever equipment she may need?

No amount is too small.

Because sometimes hope looks like a puppy who falls down...
..and gets right back up. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

For Xena.
For answers.
For the chance at the best life possible.

After talking it over, we have decided that since Xena is already up to date on all of her vaccines, we are going to skip the regular vet visit and go straight to where she needs to be.

Tomorrow, I will be calling The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center to make an appointment for Xena. This sweet special needs girl needs proper testing, answers, and a real plan. We need to know exactly what is going on with her body, what can be done to help her, and how we can give her the best quality of life possible.

Xena deserves more than guesses. She deserves answers. She deserves every chance we can give her to walk better, feel better, and live the happiest life she can. ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

This will be costly for the rescue, but we believe she is worth every mile, every appointment, and every penny.

Please keep Xena in your prayers as we start this next step in her journey. Donations toward her testing and care are deeply appreciated.

๐Ÿšจ Calling all businesses, builders, and big-hearted humans! ๐Ÿšจ

If you know of any business willing to donate products or services for raffle fundraisers for
๐Ÿพ Buckeye Husky Rescue and Rehome ๐Ÿพ, please reach out to us!

Everyone sees the vet bills, food, and medications, but rescue goes far beyond that. Special-needs dogs, like Xena, come with special-needs vet bills also. On top of this, we are trying to create a safer, more sustainable outdoor setup for the dogs already in our care.

And if you know huskiesโ€ฆ you know they are basically furry jailbreak engineers with Olympic-level determination. ๐Ÿ˜…

We desperately need help building:
โ€ข Weatherproof shelter from rain and snow
โ€ข Shade from the summer heat
โ€ข Husky-proof containment that can survive digging, climbing, and โ€œcreative problem solvingโ€
โ€ข Durable outdoor structures that can handle all seasons and lots of paws

Ironically, many of them refuse to use traditional dog houses. Instead, theyโ€™ll cram themselves under a table like tiny dramatic campers just to stay dry or cool. ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ๐Ÿบ

Possible donation ideas:
โ€ข Lumber or fencing materials
โ€ข Metal roofing or canopy materials
โ€ข Concrete or gravel
โ€ข Outdoor kennels or panels
โ€ข Construction labor or welding
โ€ข Gift baskets, gift cards, services, event tickets, handmade items, pet products, etc. for raffles

Every donated item or service helps us raise funds to improve the rescue and give these dogs the safe environment they deserve.

Please share this post. Sometimes the right person sees it at the right time, and that changes everything. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

We have started a fundraiser through give butter to help with the care needed for Xena.
PLEASE SHARE!

๐ŸŒŸ Meet Xena ๐ŸŒŸ

At just 6 months old, Xena should be running full speed through the yard, chasing leaves, stealing socks, and keeping everyone on their toes. Instead, every step she takes is a struggle.

Yet she doesn't know she's different.

She still wags her tail. She still wants love. She still looks at the world with those bright blue eyes that say, "I'm ready for whatever comes next." ๐Ÿ’™

When we learned about Xena, we knew we couldn't turn away. Buckeye Husky Rescue and Rehome exists to save huskies that others might overlook, and this beautiful girl deserves every chance at a happy life.

But Xena's journey is just beginning.

The very first step is getting her a full diagnosis. We need to determine exactly what is causing her mobility issues and what treatments, therapies, or equipment she will need to help her walk more comfortably and live the life every puppy deserves.

Unfortunately, specialized testing is expensive. If she needs advanced imaging, neurological evaluations, mobility aids, braces, a wheelchair, or ongoing therapy, the costs will quickly add up. As a small rescue, these expenses are far beyond our normal budget.

Still, we are committed to her.

Because somewhere along the way, this little girl decided to trust people.

Now we're asking you to help us show her that trust was not misplaced.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps move Xena one step closer to answers.

Every share helps her story reach someone who believes that special needs doesn't mean less deserving.

Every prayer, every encouraging word, every dollar says the same thing:

"Xena, you matter."

We don't know exactly what her diagnosis will be yet.

We don't know what challenges lie ahead.

But we do know this:

We will fight for her.

And with your help, she won't have to fight alone. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

Please donate if you can, share if you can't, and follow along as we discover what this sweet girl needs to live her best life.

Donations can also be sent by:

Please put Xena on the donation

How about a Sassdate? ๐Ÿพ

Ms. Sassy has come so far in the year she has been here. This little girl went from shaking, flinching when hands reached toward her, and digging her nails in like a cat if I tried to put her on my lap, to coming right up and demanding to be petted.

Now she gets jealous if Iโ€™m loving on the rescues and pushes her way right in like, โ€œExcuse me, that is MY human.โ€ She greets everyone who comes in with a smile, a wagging tail, and happily accepts all the pets she can get.

She even snuggles up in bed with me in the semi. ๐Ÿฅน

Now, donโ€™t get too carried away. The longest Iโ€™ve been able to hold her on my lap is still only 4 minutes. She didnโ€™t scratch me to get down this time, but she did quickly abandon ship.

Progress is progress, and with Sapphire, every little step has meant the world.

I love this little girl so much! She was never halfway home, she lives here forever with me! โค๏ธ

๐Ÿพ Tazz here with an important rescue report! ๐Ÿพ

When Momma brought me home one week ago today, I was told there was no room for any more huskies. I thought, "Perfect! More treats for me!"

Then what happens?

Momma comes home from work on Tuesday with Xena.

Now don't get me wrong. Xena is a beautiful puppy, and I really do like her. She's sweet, she's brave, and she's been through a lot. But there's one tiny problem...

๐Ÿšจ She likes the same treats I like! ๐Ÿšจ

Suddenly the treat supply is disappearing faster than a squirrel crossing the yard. Coincidence? I think not.

To make matters worse, Momma keeps scheduling vet appointments. Every time I hear her say "vet bill," I hear, "Sorry Tazz, that's less money for snacks."

So I'm here today to remind everyone that it's $5 Furday! ๐Ÿพ

Just $5 may not sound like much, but when lots of people help, it keeps us rescue huskies healthy, vetted, and ready to find our forever homes. It also helps prevent a full-scale treat shortage crisis around here.

Can you spare $5 today to help Buckeye Husky Rescue and Rehome?

Thank you for helping dogs like me, Xena, Locomotive and all the other rescue huskies. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go investigate who ate the last chicken treat.

Suspiciously looking at Xena... ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅ“
