GYNCA GYN Cancers Alliance provides education, resources and support to local women and caregivers affected by gynecologic cancers.

GYNCA Mission: GYN Cancers Alliance provides education, resources, and support to local women and their families affected by gynecologic cancers. GYNCA Services: GYNCA provides four key components inherent to the support and assistance of gynecologic cancer fighters & survivors; financial assistance, education, community, and resources. Our organization brings all gynecologic cancer patients together, including their caregivers and families. Fueled by Hope:
- Removing barriers to treatment
- GYNCA provides up to $5,400 a month in fuel assistance to women in active treatment for gynecologic cancers
- GYNCA serves 30 counties in SW Missouri; many of our members live in rural areas, and travel hours daily for their treatment
- Our service area continues to increase as more needs are identified in more rural areas

Case Management & Advocacy:
- Regular follow-up contact with GYNCA members
- Ongoing research for other resources by county, and making educated referrals to help support our families throughout their cancer journey

Emergency Financial Assistance:
- Each member has access to up to $500 in emergency assistance for the duration of their treatment journey.
- Example of emergency assistance: car repairs, utilities, rent, etc. Building Connection & Community:
- Monthly Support Group Meetings in Springfield
- Quarterly Support Group Meetings in Joplin (pending)

Wig Assistance:
- A one-on-one wig consultation, free wig, wig stand, supplies and care instructions.
- Supplies such as scarves, hats, beanies, chemo caps, and more.
- We strive to make these wig fittings very personal and meaningful.
- Hair loss during cancer treatment is a traumatic process, and we try to make that process a little less tragic for our ladies.
- Often times, after diagnosis, the first questions our medical teams hear is, "will I lose my hair?"

🩵🩷 TEAL & PINK — DIFFERENT CANCERS. ONE COMMUNITY. ONE MISSION OF HOPE.

Gynecologic cancers and breast cancer may affect different parts of a woman’s body, but the journeys of the women and families facing them often have so much in common.

Here in the Ozarks, two organizations are working every day to make sure no woman has to face cancer alone.

🩵 GYN Cancers Alliance (GYNCA) provides education, resources, advocacy, financial assistance and support to local women and caregivers affected by ovarian, uterine/endometrial, cervical, vulvar, vaginal and other gynecologic cancers.

đź©· Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks provides help and hope to families facing breast cancer through financial assistance, screenings, emotional support, mentoring, education and other resources.

And our missions cross paths in a very special way.

Through partnerships—including The Shelly Sachs Wig Room—women facing ANY cancer diagnosis can find compassion, dignity and support when they need it most.

There is another important reason teal and pink belong in the same conversation: some hereditary cancer syndromes and inherited genetic changes can increase the risk of both breast and certain gynecologic cancers.

Knowing your family cancer history matters. Talking with your healthcare provider about your personal risk—and whether genetic counseling or testing may be appropriate—can provide information that affects not only you, but potentially generations of your family.

Know your body. Know your family history. Keep up with recommended screenings. Speak up when something doesn't feel normal. And know that there are organizations right here in our community ready to walk beside you.

🩵🩷 30 DAYS OF TEAL… NOW WE PASS THE RIBBON TO PINK.

As September comes to a close, our hearts are incredibly full.

For the past 30 days, we have talked about gynecologic cancers. We’ve shared symptoms. We’ve encouraged women to listen to their bodies. We’ve celebrated survivors, honored warriors, remembered those we have lost and reminded women across the Ozarks that they are never alone.

To everyone who read a post, shared information, started a conversation, checked on someone you love, donated, volunteered or simply helped us turn September TEAL — THANK YOU. 🩵

Awareness doesn't end because the calendar changes.

Instead, we lovingly pass the ribbon to our sisters at Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks as October begins and our community turns PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. đź©·

Our ribbons may be different, but our missions share something incredibly important: supporting women and families right here in the Ozarks.

And for some families, teal and pink are even more closely connected. Certain inherited genetic changes can increase the risk of both breast cancer and some gynecologic cancers—another reminder of why knowing your family history and advocating for your health matters.

We'll be right beside you, cheering you on, sharing your message and continuing to remind women that no matter the color of the ribbon, no woman should ever face cancer alone.

For 30 days, we've talked about symptoms, prevention, screening, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, genetic risk, survivorship, caregivers and the importance of advocating for your body.

Tomorrow the calendar changes. Our mission doesn't.

Keep sharing what you've learned.
Keep listening to your body.
Keep encouraging the women you love to seek care.
Keep talking about gynecologic cancers.
And if cancer ever becomes part of your journey, remember that there is a community ready to stand beside you.

Because we believe knowledge can change outcomes.

We dream of a future where every woman recognizes the warning signs.

Where no woman feels embarrassed to talk about abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain or vulvar changes.

Where preventable cancers are prevented.

Where cancers are discovered earlier.

Where every woman diagnosed has access to compassionate support.

And ultimately, where fewer families have to say goodbye too soon.

Awareness today creates hope for tomorrow.

💙 Why are we comfortable talking about some parts of our bodies—but whisper when the conversation turns to reproductive organs?

There is nothing shameful about saying:
V***a. Va**na. Cervix. Uterus. Ovaries.

They're body parts, and knowing how they normally look, feel and function is part of taking care of our health.

We can't educate women about gynecologic cancers while being afraid to name the anatomy those cancers affect.

So we're going to keep talking.

Because when women feel comfortable talking about their bodies, they're better equipped to advocate for them.
