We are a non-profit organization founded in 1992 by Director Melissa Sartin dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals. We have an inspected and licensed facility that is in good standing with the state. Our animals are never euthanized for cage space, nor are they every transported to another facility for disposal. me. consists of two cage-free adoption centers which house our adoptable animals, who are waiting for homes (1328A-B W. This center is open to the public Thursday-Saturday from 10am to 4pm. also has a sanctuary located near Aurora MO. This is where we treat incoming animals in our clinic, and house our special needs animals, or those that may need a longer rehabilitation time before being placed for adoption. Often these animals were rescued from terrible situations and require a little TLC before they become ready to go to a family. We also care for our more unusual rescues there, such as goats, pigs, iguanas, ducks, horses and more animals that need the open space the sanctuary provides. relies solely on the kindness and donations of the public to care for our animals. We are not city or state funded and all donations are tax deductible. All of our pets are spayed or neutered before being put up for adoption. We support early-age spay/neuter programs for shelters. Spaying/neutering prior to adoption is the only way to guarantee that none of our shelter animals will contribute to the pet overpopulation problem. We also employ an application process that helps us better match pets and people. Prospective adopters are carefully screened to ensure that we find the best fit possible for the animal, based on the needs and personality of each individual dog or cat. does not accept in animals from the public. Our local animal control is overflowing, and C.A.R.E. is constantly at full capacity. Every foster home and kennel is full. Our team works tirelessly—morning and night, 7 days a week—doing everything we can to help. The pound remains packed with animals, still hoping for a chance at life.

Have you ever looked at a perfectly baked loaf of orange tabby bread and thought, "I wish I had two of those, and they could walk"? If so, meet Flash and Tarzan. These 3-year-old twin brothers are domestically distinguished orange tabbies who are completely inseparable, bonded for life, and sharing exactly one bright orange brain cell between them. If you are looking for a pair of ridiculously sweet, low-maintenance, high-affection roommates, your search ends here. They are the ultimate dynamic duo, offering double the purrs and double the love.

Their daily schedule is rigorous, demanding, and strictly adhered to, consisting of a very specific three-act play. It begins with "The Play," a sudden, unprovoked burst of energy where they chase invisible dust bunnies or a rogue piece of kibble across the floor. Flash lives up to his name for about four minutes, while Tarzan swings from the metaphorical vines of his cat wand. This is immediately followed by "The Loaf," the main event of the day. Once their four minutes of cardio are over, they tuck their paws under their chests and transform into two matching, sun-baked loaves of bread. Finally, they transition into "The Loaf Some More" stage, where just when you think they’re done resting, they adjust by two inches to catch the shifting sunlight and resume their positions.

While they do everything together, they each bring their own flavor of sweetness to the table. Despite the speedy name, Flash is a professional, high-level cuddle-bug. He will flash you a look with his big eyes, and suddenly you’ve been pinned to the couch for three hours because you simply cannot disturb a sleeping boy. Tarzan, the King of the Living Room Jungle, is a gentle giant who loves to climb onto your chest, look deeply into your soul, and purr so loudly it actually vibrates your sternum. Together, their synchronized purring is enough to soothe even the most stressful days.

Flash and Tarzan are looking for a forever home that respects the art of relaxation but appreciates occasional comedic entertainment. They get along with everyone because they are simply too sweet to do otherwise. They must be adopted together, as separating them would mean breaking up the greatest loaf-bakery duo in history. Please be warned that adopting this pair may result in extreme couch-locked snuggle sessions, a sudden surplus of orange cat hair on all your clothes, and an overwhelming sense of joy.
