We are gearing up for our next Landscape Rehydration project, and this time we're headed to the Hereford, TX region. The first step in our project is hosting a few field days this fall where our team and attendees will be collecting trash from the waterways. These clean-up days are a great way for any community to start the process of landscape rehydration!

For safety and efficiency, we'll be making some of the first additions to our long-planned tool library: trash-collecting sticks (similar to those pictured below). With that in mind, every donation in the month of September will go to support landscape rehydration projects, including the purchase of these tools.

Nearly 50 attendees braved the heat last week at OC's Playa Field Day in Nazareth (TX). Their reward was an outstanding presentation on shorebirds: several species that migrate across the region during spring and fall. The event allowed biologists, educators, and outreach personnel from several institutions to learn from each other and build new strategies for conservation success! Callie just completed her second internship and we’re so excited to see the path she is on!

This summer BCCD was able to partner with Ogallala Commons and the Springfield NRCS office to employ our first ever summer intern, Callie Hinds!
