We are just under a month from our annual Station Fundraiser, and it’s going to be a great one! We’re excited to have Jake Ho**er and the Outsiders come to Naz along with The Rough Riders! We’ll also have a fantastic BBQ meal and a raffle with some awesome prizes! Raffle prizes can be found on the flyer, and tickets are on sale right now. Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Pre-K class to the Fire Station for a quick fire safety camp!

Our firefighters Chris and Kolton, showed the kids our protective gear, explained why we wear it, and demonstrated how we put it on. We also talked about who comes to help when you call 911, gave them a tour of the fire engine, and introduced them to some of the medical equipment we use.

We had a great time teaching these little ones about fire safety and helping them become more familiar with their local first responders!

Thank you to the Pre-K class for coming to visit us!

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 possible across the
far southwestern Texas Panhandle and as low as 32 near the edge of
the Caprock.

* WHERE...Bailey, Cochran, Floyd, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock,
Terry, Yoakum, Briscoe, Castro, Parmer, and Swisher Counties.

* WHEN...From late Friday night through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

It is time once again for our annual haunted house! We will be running it on October 30 & 31 from 8:30-11, and tickets are $10 with all proceeds benefitting the NVFD. So come out and see if you’re brave enough to take on our haunted house!

Brush 93 made its first appearance since its upgrades last night to put out the remainder of the Nazareth Bonfire!

Brush 93 is back at the station and in service after our upgrades! Thanks to a slip on grant from the Texas A&M Forest Service we were able to replace the tank and pump on our brush truck. We got some much needed upgrades that will make our job much easier! Big shoutout to the crew at Brushfighters for completing this job for us. We’re extremely excited to have it back and ready to roll with this rig!

Northwestern Swisher County in the panhandle of Texas...

* Until 630 AM CDT.

* At 325 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1.5 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2.5 inches are possible
in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Dimmitt, Hart, Earth, Happy, Lazbuddie, Nazareth and Springlake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
