Fall Clean Up this weekend update. We will NOT have electronics recycling but we WILL have metal recycling. Still looking for a few more volunteers to help with the dumpsters. This Saturday Cox North 8-Noon.
WE CAN Accept
Limbs (max length of 4 feet/max diameter of 6
inches), leaves, unwanted household items, metal,
building materials, and most appliances.
We CANNOT Accept
Hazardous waste (fluorescent bulbs, paint, oil, varnish, etc.), Tires, and appliances with freon, including refrigerators and air conditioners.

During the Spring clean-up at Silver Springs Park, a representative from Audubon gave a presentation and said the Yellow-Crowned Night Heron migrated to the park every year for the Spring, Summer and Fall. They have been doing it for thousands of years!

Picture this morning of a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron fishing for minnows in the Jordan Valley Creek near the Silver Springs that runs year-round into the creek. 9-3-2026.

Here's your chance to be part of the 35th annual July 4th Parade and Picnic. The good news is we are done by noon or sooner and you have the rest of the day to celebrate with your family.
Here are your volunteer opportunities and times. Friday July 3rd - Assemble road Barries before dark.
All these jobs are on the 4th.
7-9 am Help Decorate Park
7am - Deliver Ice to park- From Maverick, purchase and deliver 6 Large bags of ice (keep receipt).
9-10am Parade Line up. Meet at Drury and help line up line up the parade.
9:30 - 10:30am Road Crew - You will be given a yellow vest and stand at intersection by a road barrier. If you can help please email us at [email protected] THANK YOU!

Don’t forget to show up!

Please join us tomorrow, May 23rd for a cleanup at Silver Spring Park.

This event will be part of Neat Neighborhoods - a contest in SGF to show community pride. We will pick up trash and debris in Silver Springs Park and Jordan Creek. Midtown is partnering with the Greene County Park Board, The Greater Ozarks Audubon Society, Ozarks Greenways, City of Springfield Urban Forestry program, NAACP Youth, Solid Rock Youth, and the International Institute for this event.

This is a family friendly activity, so please invite neighbors and bring your kids. Youth will learn about the trees along Jordan Creek and help with tree maintenance. The Greater Ozarks Audubon Society will also present programming on local birds.

Snacks and drinks will be provided by Solid Rock Church. While gloves, bug spray, tools, and bags will be on hand, you are always welcome to bring your own as well.
