Today our troop joined Scouts from Troop 270 and members of our Jamboree Contingent for a voyage to Sail 250 New Orleans. We explored towering tall ships, stepped aboard vessels from around the world, and got a firsthand look at maritime history in action.

The ships were impressive. The crowds were impressive. And the Louisiana heat? Let’s just say it was working harder than a deckhand in a hurricane. From bow to stern, the day was filled with adventure, learning, and plenty of memories made alongside great friends.

Days like this remind us that adventure isn’t always found on the trail. Sometimes you just have to cast off the dock lines, navigate the crowds, and follow the tide to something unforgettable.

Today’s adventure: learning to lead. Five scouts from our troop completed ILST and are officially one step closer to NYLT. Leadership in Scouting isn’t just about wearing a patch; it’s about learning to lead by example, communicate effectively, work as a team, and live the Scout Oath and Law every day. We are proud of these scouts for investing in themselves and stepping up to become stronger leaders for our troop and their communities.

Thank you to the youth and adult volunteers that made this program possible!

This year, we had two awesome scouts graduating with the Class of 2026. Each from a different school, each with a packed senior calendar, and each determined to somehow squeeze every last drop out of both high school and scouting. Between Eagle projects, scouting events, prom dates, senior events, exams, and the occasional “Wait…that paperwork is due WHEN?” moment, the road to Eagle got a little adventurous. Let’s just say these two definitely tested the meaning of “A Scout is Prepared” right down to the final hour.

But if scouting teaches anything, it’s perseverance. And these scouts proved exactly what it means to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, and brave when the pressure was on. They stayed the course, finished strong, and both earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Over the years, they’ve hiked miles of trails, survived crazy campouts, flipped more than one canoe, laughed until they couldn’t breathe, and built friendships that will last far beyond troop meetings and campfires. Along the way, they gained leadership skills, confidence, grit, and enough stories to keep future scouts entertained for years.

Now they’re heading toward exciting new adventures. One is already chasing his entrepreneurial dreams with a growing candle business, while the other is headed to Northshore Technical Community College for Lineman School. Different paths, same determination.

We’re so honored to have been a part of their journey. We couldn’t be prouder of the young men they’ve become. Their future is so bright. Congratulations, Scouts. Keep living the Scout Oath and Law wherever life takes you. The world needs more men like you.

You can’t rain on our parade though the forecast sure tried this past weekend. When the canoe trip we had planned started drifting in the wrong direction, we pulled a full 180 and made the kind of pivot that would make a compass proud. Thankfully, Indian Creek has always been a reliable backup plan, and it came through again.

We had seven brand-new scouts on their very first campout, so naturally we kept things flexible. We trimmed it to one night, added an arcade run and rolled with it. Turns out, the weather got the memo late… because it ended up being absolutely beautiful weekend.

New adventures, a few audible changes, lots of laughs, and seven scouts who now know that no matter what, our troop always tries to show up and make it a great weekend. 🌤️

Yesterday these scout friends prepared to send one of our own off to Air Force boot camp. Proud doesn’t begin to cover it.

From campfires to earning Eagle Scout, scouting helped build lifelong friendships and the leadership, resilience, and character he carries with him today.

Now it’s his time to soar. Aim High. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.

Our troop is proud to celebrate an important milestone for two of our Scouts, who recently received the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic Church.

Moments like these reflect not only the values of commitment, growth, and service that we strive to uphold as a troop, but also a deepening of their faith and dedication to living it out in their daily lives. We are grateful to be part of their journey and to witness their continued development as young leaders.

Please join us in congratulating them on this special occasion!

Before 2025 came to an end, we completed our fifth and final Eagle Scout project of the year. This was one that truly excited our scouts. The scout leading the project envisioned building a Gaga Ball pit for his youth group, and through hard work and dedication, he brought that vision to life. His custom built pit will provide years of fun, fellowship, and friendly competition.
