We’re excited to introduce something new at Blue Sky Acres: Our Blue Ribbon Sponsorship!

Some of the biggest victories at Blue Sky Acres may look pretty small from the outside.

A participant reaches out to touch a horse for the first time, someone begins to trust their mentor or finds the courage to try something hard.

We call these Blue Ribbon Moments because they are moments of that are worth celebrating.

For as little as $10 a month, you can become a Blue Ribbon Sponsor and help make more of these moments possible. 100% of Blue Ribbon Sponsorship donations go directly toward our programs, helping us provide Christ-centered, equine-assisted mentorship to individuals impacted by trauma or disability.

Blue Ribbon Sponsors also have the opportunity to receive regular highlights from sessions through our private Facebook group and a monthly email sharing some of the progress and special moments happening at BSA.

We enjoyed having 8 lovely students from Georgia Southern’s Future Vets Society out at Blue Sky Acres today!

They joined us for a horsemanship class and got some hands-on time learning with our horses (and cow and donkeys☺️). Some of them are also hoping to join our Equine Team, where they can gain experience and work toward the animal-care hours they need for their future careers. We loved having them out at BSA and look forward to seeing some of them again soon!

Have you ever looked at the shapes in the clouds? What about a paint horse’s spots?

In a session this week, an impromptu activity while we were grooming came up, and we decided we wanted to figure out what Banjo’s spots looked like! Then it turned into a discussion of how amazing God the creator is and how the world would not have turned out nearly as interesting if we had designed it!

We took Cash’s fly mask off to wash it and let it dry. A little while later, he found it and started giving it some very affectionate licks.

We think he was trying to tell us something: “I’d like that back, please.”

It made us smile, but it also reminded us of something important. Building trust starts with learning to notice. To slow down. To pay attention to what someone is communicating, even when they don’t have the words to say it.

That’s a big part of what we do at Blue Sky Acres. Through horses, mentorship, and Christ-centered values, we create space for people impacted by trauma or disability to build relationships where they can be seen, heard, and valued.

Because sometimes the first step toward growth is simply knowing that someone is paying attention.❤️

Most of us don’t see obstacles in our life as a fun thing and sometimes the last thing our participants want to do is ask their horse to go through them!

But as I have been pondering why that is and how to respond to our students, it made me think about changing our mindset from “working with the horse” to “playing with him.” Now the goal is not simply to get over the obstacle but how to have the most fun with what is right there in front of us.

I encourage you to let God speak to you about the obstacles in your life. While we are fully aware that there are legitimate traumas and are not talking about those, in some cases I also wonder if God wants us to view what we see as obstacles with a more playful attitude and a little less seriousness.

This means that we approach life with an expectation of enjoying the journey with God instead of simply trying to get to the destination. Maybe you will even start finding ways to have fun with your own obstacles in the process!

I’m thankful that I had some time this morning to connect with Dandy. Each of our horses are so wonderfully unique in how God designed them and we are thankful for all of the lessons he teaches us through them!

A great group of people came out yesterday and today and we got a ton of work accomplished! We are so thankful for all of their help preparing this property for all those special individuals and families who will be coming out starting next week!

God even gave us some great cloud cover for the day!

Note that not everyone is pictured because some of them came Thursday and we even had another group doing construction on Wednesday but we appreciate you all too!

It definitely takes a village and God has given us a wonderful one❤️
