Today was an incredibly special day for our High School FFA Members💙💛

Members proudly stood in front of administration, community members, families, and the Board of Education to present Opening Ceremonies and recognize the many accomplishments earned throughout this school year. From Greenhand, Chapter, and Empire Degrees 🌟 to leadership growth and state-level success, our students continue to raise the bar for future members entering their FFA journey.

We were also honored to recognize several incredible supporters of our program, including Cub Frisbee from the Tioga County Farm Bureau and Rick Rogers, whose endless support throughout the school year helped provide opportunities for our students, support our hoop houses, internships, FFA jackets, and so much more 🚜🌱

A special thank you also goes to Dr. Countermine and Mr. Patterson for believing in our growing Agricultural Education program and supporting two first-year AG teachers as we continue making history together.

We are also incredibly proud of Olyvia Swimelar, who officially retired her FFA jacket today. We cannot wait to support her throughout this exciting next chapter.

Lastly, congratulations to our newly announced 2026-2027 Officer Team 🎉 We are excited to see where your leadership takes our chapter next year!

Intro to Ag students wrapped up their Floriculture Unit today by creating their own small faux floral arrangements to either take home or gift to someone special. 🌸💐

Throughout this unit, students explored the many career opportunities within the floriculture industry. While focusing on floral design, they applied concepts such as color palettes, balance, and symmetry to create visually appealing arrangements.

These students did an amazing job, and their creativity truly showed in each design! 👏

Today in the high school Animal Science class, students had the opportunity to hear from McKenzie Slater of Slater Hill Farm as we wrapped up our reproduction unit! 🐄🧬

McKenzie shared her firsthand experience using both bulls and artificial insemination (AI) within her herd on her family’s 5th generation dairy farm 🌾👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. Students learned about the pros and cons of each method, as well as the programs and practices that have worked best for her family’s operation.

2026 FFA State Convention has officially adjourned — and what an incredible few days it has been! 💙💛 We are so proud of this amazing group of FFA members who spent the last three days dedicating themselves to leadership development, service, learning, and celebration.

Day three brought us two final convention sessions where we had the opportunity to cheer on members from chapters across the state as they were recognized for their accomplishments — including one of our very own, Olyvia Swimelar, as she received her Empire FFA State Degree! 👏

Today was filled with emotion between the inspiring speeches, celebrating achievements, and the exhaustion that comes with such a busy and memorable schedule. We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that continuously supports our chapter and gives our students opportunities like this. A special thank you to everyone who donated and helped make our Olive Garden family dinner possible — it was the perfect way to wrap up convention together! 🍝

As we head home, our hearts are full of unforgettable memories and our eyes are definitely ready for the best sleep we’ve had in three days. 😴

She did it! 🎉 Our very own Olyvia Swimelar received her Empire FFA State Degree at State Convention — making history as the very first member of SVE FFA to earn this incredible accomplishment. 💙💛

“Proud” doesn’t even begin to cover it. We are beyond honored to have someone as dedicated, hardworking, and driven as Olyvia representing our chapter and setting the standard for future members to follow. Congratulations, Olyvia! Your hard work has truly paid off! 👏

Day 2 of State Convention! 🌟

Students started their morning bright and early by participating in Day of Service events at Providence Farm Collective and Erie County Parks. They devoted their time and energy to helping prepare these areas for the summer season by planting trees 🌳 and cleaning up community spaces for everyone to enjoy!

We made it back to the convention in time for students to attend workshops focused on Agricultural Education and many other exciting topics. 📚🌱

As you may have seen from our earlier post, our Quiz Bowl team competed today and made it to the second round! We are so proud of them for trying something new and giving it their all! 🏆

To wrap up the day, we attended our District 7 meetings where students had the opportunity to watch parliamentary procedure in action.

An incredible day for sure! Now we’re off to enjoy a family dinner and game night at the hotel. 🎲🍕 Only one more day to go, and there’s still so much more to come!

Day One of FFA State Convention is in the books! 💙💛🌽

We kicked off the day bright and early with a 4:30 AM departure! ⏰🚌 A huge shoutout to Dr. Countermine for driving us all the way to Niagara Falls for our tour on the Maid of the Mist! 🌊🚢 For many students, this was their very first boat ride, and for most of us, our first time seeing Niagara Falls in person — definitely an unforgettable experience! 🌫️📸

After our visit to the falls, we headed back to the convention center for an afternoon spent exploring the expo and attending a variety of workshops covering leadership, food science, and more. 🧪🌱🎤

We’re wrapping up the night after our first convention session from 7 to 9:15pm and are so excited to share some pictures from an amazing first day! 📷✨

Our SVE FFA members are heading to the NYS FFA State Convention, where they’ll grow as leaders, compete, and represent our community. This year is extra special—we’ll celebrate a senior earning their Empire Degree, while many of our officers and first-time attendees experience convention for the very first time!
We’re hoping to provide a special chapter dinner during the trip—a chance for students to connect and celebrate together. About $25 helps support one student’s meal, and every donation makes a difference!

Today I had the opportunity to visit Olyvia for her SAE project, and I couldn’t be more impressed with her dedication and hard work! 🐷

Olyvia is a senior this year and will soon be graduating, wrapping up an incredible high school career filled with active involvement in FFA. Her SAE focuses on the care and management of her pot-bellied pigs at home, and she also expands her project to include feeder hogs when they are on-site. During my visit, I had the chance to meet Wilbur and Oreo and learn all about their daily care—from feeding routines and watering schedules to how she maintains and cleans their enclosure.

Olyvia’s knowledge, responsibility, and passion for animal care truly shine through in her project. Her years of dedication have led to an incredible accomplishment—next Saturday, she will be receiving her State FFA Degree (Empire Degree) at the State FFA Convention!

We are so proud of all Olyvia has achieved and can’t wait to see where her future takes her. Congratulations and best of luck in all that comes next! 💙💛
