What a great camp meeting tonight. We were honored to have guest speaker Joe Nicosia in the house. His topic was on ‘The European Brigade: Italian Guards’ stationed in New Orleans, LA. Which Joe with the help of another special guest in attendance tonight Mr David C Daniels (Resident Genealogist) who by the way is a distinguished member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Military Order of the Stars & Bars. Joe found out his forefathers left Italy and Sicily as General Giuseppe Garibaldi managed to unite both countries into a unified Italy. His cousin Giuseppe Rizzo at age 15 was a member of the European Brigade who fought to defend New Orleans from the invading Union Army. His family were merchants who imported fresh fruit from Italy and numerous other fruit bearing countries. THANK YOU Joe for your awesome and informative presentation sir. Troopers and perspective camps I’ve enclosed Joe’s contact information in the following pictures for possible guest speakers engagements.

Confederate Memorial Day
By Bear Vinson
5/25/2026

In fields where shadows softly lie,
Beneath the vast and starlit sky,
Brave hearts once beat for honor's call,
In battles fierce, they gave their all.

With courage forged in fire and strife,
They stood as one, for land and life,
Each soldier bold, their spirits high,
Now rest in peace, their spirits fly.

From hallowed ground, their tales resound,
In whispered winds, their dreams are found,
For every soul that fought and bled,
We honor them, the valiant dead.

On this Memorial Day’s embrace,
We pause to mourn, to hold their grace,
With reverence deep, we bow our heads,
To those who fought, to those who’ve fled.

So let the flags unfurl and wave,
In tribute to the brave who gave,
For freedom’s price, they paid the cost,
In memory, they are not lost.
