Ladies and gentlemen, family, friends, and fellow Compatriots of the Sons of Confederate Veterans,
We gather here today to honor the life and legacy of our dear friend, Kenneth Ray Broyles, who departed this world on October 6, 2026, at the remarkable age of 94. He was a member in good standing within the General George Gibbs Dibrell Sparta Camp #875. As we reflect on Kenneth's journey, we are reminded of the profound words of General Stonewall Jackson, who, on his deathbed, uttered a poignant farewell: “Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees.”
Kenneth was more than a Compatriot; he was a beacon of wisdom and strength in our community. His unwavering dedication to the principles and history of the Confederate cause was matched only by his commitment to his family and friends. He embodied the spirit of camaraderie that we hold dear, always ready to lend a hand or share a story steeped in the rich tapestry of our heritage.
Much like General Jackson, Kenneth faced life with courage and determination. Throughout his years, he crossed many rivers—both literal and metaphorical—navigating the challenges and joys that life presented him with grace. He was a man who cherished his roots, delving into the history that shaped our nation, while also embracing the future with an open heart and an inquisitive mind.
