Last week, TALKS members traded networking for a little hands-on service as we volunteered with the Richmond County Rescue Mission. ❤️

And judging by the pictures, we weren’t afraid to get a little dirty! Scraping walls, pulling trim, cleaning up—and apparently even working from the floor when necessary. 😂

This is what TALKS is about. We don’t just build business connections. We build relationships, support our communities, and show up when there’s work to be done.

A big thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy. Proud to see TALKS making a difference beyond our Wednesday morning meetings!

🌳 You inherited the farm… now what?

Yesterday, Angela Cummings Thompson Thompson with the Angela Thompson Group of KW Pinehurst Angela Thompson Group gave us a sneak peek at a seminar she is developing around a situation many families eventually face—inheriting land.

With years of experience and extensive knowledge of land and real estate, Angela understands that selling land isn't the same as selling a house. There can be a lot to consider before deciding what to do with property that has been passed down through a family.

Do you keep it? Sell it? Divide it? Develop it? What is the land actually worth—and what do you need to know before making a decision?

Angela's approach isn't simply about getting a property listed. It's about helping families understand what they have, explore their options, and make an informed decision about something that may represent generations of family history.

That's exactly why having an experienced land expert in your corner matters.

Angela Thompson Group of KW Pinehurst reminded us that routines aren’t about making life rigid—they’re about making life easier.

Small routines can reduce stress, eliminate some of the daily decision-making, and help us build momentum toward bigger goals.

One line especially stood out:

“If it’s not on your calendar, it doesn’t exist.”

And maybe the best place to start isn’t where life is already running smoothly. It’s the part of your day that always seems to turn into chaos. 😅

Great presentation this morning from Fred Tilley with Alarm Technologies Technologies!

Fred reminded us that technology should be about solving problems, not simply selling the biggest or fastest system.

He shared real examples of how his team is using Starlink, security cameras, networking, fire and water detection, monitoring, and home automation to help homeowners and businesses—especially in places where traditional internet or other technology just isn't getting the job done.

One example that really stood out was using Starlink as a backup for a business where internet outages mean lost money. He also showed how today's alarm systems can protect against much more than a break-in—fire, gas and water problems can be detected before they become much bigger problems.

And apparently, if your dinosaur breaks down, Fred can handle that too. 🦖😂

Carmen Kelly Cox with Cherished Legacies reminded us that serving clients well begins with listening.

Too often, we are already thinking about the solution before we fully understand the person in front of us.

Ask another question. Listen for what matters. Care about the story behind the need.

“Listen long enough to understand—and closely enough that they feel remembered.”

Because when people feel heard and valued, we do more than find better solutions.

Jon Baker with Pineland Inspections shared a refreshing take on discipline—and thankfully, it is not just about waking up early or working out every day. 😅

The moments that define us are usually much quieter.

Discipline is choosing the hard right over the easy wrong:
After a disagreement with your spouse.
When caring for a client or team member matters more than chasing the extra dollar.
When cutting a corner would be easier.
When no one else is watching.

People notice how we show up. Over time, those small choices tell them whether they can trust us.
At every crossroads, one path is usually easier—and the other is better.

Choosing the better path builds stronger families, stronger teams, stronger businesses, and deeper trust.

That is a discipline worth practicing.
