Community Connects is back with another one! Alternative Academic Solutions Seminar

Join us for an informative and engaging discussion designed to help parents, guardians, educators, and community members explore the wide range of educational opportunities available for students in Moore County. Led by Sherilla Horton of Genius Unlocked, this seminar will provide valuable insight into alternative academic pathways, including homeschooling, virtual and online learning programs, after-school educational support, tutoring resources, and specialized learning environments. Participants will learn how to identify the educational approach that best fits their child’s unique strengths, learning style, and academic needs while gaining practical tools, resources, and local connections to support student success. Whether your child is thriving in a traditional classroom or seeking a different path, this session will empower families with the knowledge needed to make informed educational decisions and unlock every student’s full potential.

The 9th Annual Moore County Juneteenth Celebration is proud to welcome The Magic of African Rhythm to the West Southern Pines Center on Friday, June 19, 2026!

Experience an unforgettable evening of music, movement, culture, and storytelling as this internationally acclaimed ensemble brings the sights and sounds of West Africa to our community.

✨ Performance Begins at 7:30 PM Sharp!

Hailing from Guinea and Liberia, West Africa, and rooted in the traditions of the African Diaspora, The Magic of African Rhythm blends traditional drumming, dance, music, and storytelling into a powerful cultural experience that educates, inspires, and entertains audiences of all ages.

Their signature presentation, “Djembe Fire!”, is an interactive celebration of African heritage featuring:
