The Southern Pines Civic Club invites members and community residents to their monthly meeting and program on Monday, April 13, at 1 p.m., at the historic clubhouse, 105 S. Ashe St., across from Downtown Park. All club meetings are free and open to the public
The April program focuses on a popular local performing arts organization, one of 180 such groups in the country, that fosters lifetime engagement with music. Mollie Wilson, director of the local New Horizons Band in the Pines, will share information about this welcoming multigenerational community of musicians. The group offers both a concert band and a swing band. Members of the band will perform selections from their repertoire.

The Southern Pines Public Library's comprehensive Outreach Services will be the primary focus of our meeting on March 2. Notably, SPPL's initiatives have inspired the establishment of the new Aberdeen Public Library and plans for a new library in Pinehurst. We kindly request that attendees bring a new or gently used book from the 2020s for donation to the Free Libraries. All are welcome! If you plan to attend, RSVP to [email protected] or 910-585-6139.

RESCHEDULED for snow: The Southern Pines Civic Club invites members and our community to their monthly meeting and program. NEW DATE Monday February 9, 2026, 1:00 pm, at the historic Clubhouse, 105 S. Ashe St., across from the Downtown Park.
The program focus is Building Brighter Futures for Young Children in Moore County, a presentation about the nonprofit Partners for Children and Families. Development Director Julia Latham will share how the various programs of this organization support young children and their families, and how our community can engage with this work to help Moore children become successful adults.
The Service Project for February is donations to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which mails one free book a month to children of preschool age.
The Year of Community Involvement will continue Monday, March 2, with a presentation about Southern Pines Library Programs and Services by Outreach Librarian Mary Howard.
Southern Pines Civic Club monthly programs are free and open to the public.

Partners for Children & families, is the principal nonprofit charity in Moore County dedicated to equipping these little learners with the foundational skills and confidence they need for a successful journey through kindergarten and beyond.

Welcome, club members and community, to the New Year, 2026! 🎊
The Southern Pines Civic Club resumes its Year of Community Involvement with our monthly meeting Monday January 5, 1pm, at our clubhouse, 150 S. Ashe St. For questions: [email protected].
Our speaker, Maggie Bonecutter, is a professional in marketing and communications. She now works as a Hospice and PalliativeCare Liaison at FirstHealth to educate the community about end-of-life care. Her presentation will explain options for hospice care and palliative care that are available locally. Club members and guests may ask questions and share their experiences.

The Southern Pines Civic Club opened our Year of Community Involvement October 6. At that meeting, we learned about current issues before the Town Council from Bill Pate, Mayor Pro Tem.
November 3 at, 1pm, NC USO operations manager Tommy Walker will talk about USO history, highlighting the period during World War II when the civic club’s historic building on Ashe Street was used as the local canteen for the USO. Free and open to the public.

On May 5, 2025, at the Southern Pines Civic Club’s annual membership meeting, President Lynn Thompson reviewed programs, projects, and house and grounds work during our 2024-25 Year of Community Partnerships. At the meeting members and guests enjoyed lunch and welcomed board members, new and continuing, for 2025-26.

The town of Southern Pines boasts two active civic clubs, who for several generations have separately promoted civic engagement and projects to improve the town’s quality of life. To facilitate collaboration on future projects, the Southern Pines Civic Club and West Southern Pines Civic Club held their first joint meeting on April 7, at the West Southern Pines Center for African American History, Cultural Arts & Business. The WSP Civic Club hosted the event in the Administration Building library and provided a delicious catered buffet supper. About 70 residents attended.
The program’s topic was West and East Southern Pines: Reflecting on the Past and Assessing the Present. Featured speaker was Mitchell Capel.
