Our founder, Carolyn Taylor, was honored to represent Global Focus on Cancer at the IARC 60th Anniversary Conference, including participation in the Women, Power and Cancer session supported by The Lancet Oncology.

In addition to presenting, GFC shared posters highlighting our work in peer-to-peer support, meaningful engagement of people with lived experience, and a sub-analysis of National Cancer Control Plans exploring the integration of people-centered care within cancer policy and planning.

The conference created an important space for sharing research, ideas, and perspectives from colleagues and advocates around the world working toward more equitable and compassionate cancer care.

At a time when global collaboration matters more than ever, these opportunities to learn from one another, strengthen partnerships, and build community across countries and disciplines feel deeply meaningful.

Grateful for the conversations, collaborations, and friendships — and for all those continuing to move this work forward together. 💛

Grateful to the team at and our partners at International Cancer Control Partnership for an engaging and thoughtful Cancer Planners Forum.

Honored to have our Founder/Executive Director share her reflections on meaningful engagement and the role relationships, trust, and shared ownership play in strengthening cancer control planning and implementation.

One of the best parts of these meetings is always the opportunity to hear different perspectives, learn from colleagues working in diverse settings, and make new connections and friendships across the global cancer community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to such important discussions and especially the wonderful team at UICC for all their hard work!! Looking forward to next year!!

We say people-centered care matters.
But when you look at how it’s defined and measured—something is missing.

Proud to share our latest paper from Global Focus on Cancer, published in ecancer.

Across LMICs, we found:
• Inconsistent definitions
• A focus on systems, not people
• Little accountability for lived experience

So the question isn’t whether we believe in people-centered care.
It’s whether we’re building systems that reflect it.

Because if lived experience isn’t measured, it isn’t shaping care.

Alongside our work on patient navigation, Global Focus on Cancer spent time in Georgia strengthening collaboration with City Cancer Challenge, researchers, and civil society.

We advanced GRACE, our gender-responsive cancer care research initiative, and had the privilege of visiting Pink House and learning from EuropaDonna Georgia.

Listening, partnership, and trust are at the heart of people-centered cancer care and of sustainable progress.

Last week in Tbilisi, Global Focus on Cancer had the privilege of supporting a multi-stakeholder workshop on patient navigation for breast cancer, led by the and , and aligned with the WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative.

Bringing together the Ministry of Health, city leaders, clinicians, screening centres, academics, and civil society—including people with lived experience—the workshop focused on mapping real-world pathways, identifying gaps in early diagnosis, and co-creating practical, locally grounded navigation solutions.

We’re grateful to everyone who contributed their expertise and openness. Strengthening early diagnosis and coordinated care starts with listening, collaboration, and shared ownership, and this was a powerful step forward for breast cancer care in Georgia.

So moved by this week in Bogotá with UNAL + Queen’s University Belfast. Caregivers shared their honesty and challenges — voices too often invisible in cancer care.
GFC began this work in 2018–19, but Covid sidelined it. I’m grateful to return with new partners who share this commitment. Together we can co-create a resource that supports and honors the lived experience of caregivers.

🌍✨ Strength in Unity, Impact in Action

What an inspiring day at in Hammamet, Tunisia, where the VOICE (Voices of Impact for Cancer Equity) workshop brought together 17 passionate advocates from across sub-Saharan Africa — each driving change for women’s cancers in their countries.

Facilitated by Global Focus on Cancer (GFC) and the VOICE Steering Committee, the workshop moved from insight to impact — refining National Advocacy Action Plans (NAAPs), aligning regional priorities, and building pathways for sustainable policy change.

💬 The energy in the room was incredible — advocates shared experiences, learned from one another, and strengthened a regional community of practice that’s amplifying the voices of women affected by cancer.

Huge thanks to everyone who made this day possible — our partners, facilitators, and especially the advocates whose commitment continues to shape a more equitable future for cancer care in Africa.

We’re in beautiful Sidi Bou Saïd, putting the final touches on the VOICE: Voices of Impact for Cancer Equity workshop before we head to Hammamet.

Over the next few days, advocates from across Africa will come together to turn ideas into action — shaping advocacy plans, building partnerships, and driving progress for women’s cancer policy and equity.
